Veronica awoke from her deep sleep, due to her alarm going off and ringing loudly in her ears. She immediately sat up straight, looking around with a confused expression. When she realised where and who she was, she sighed, turning off the alarm, before standing up and stretching.  It was 6 am, she had to get ready for work. She stood in her room for a few seconds, just staring at the wall, before she finally decided to walk to her bathroom, to take a quick shower. After she was done, she put on her work clothes and brushed her hair and teeth. Then she put on a little bit of makeup: concealer, a small eyeliner and mascara. The growling of her stomach gave away, that she was hungry, so she looked at the clock. It was 6:45 am, she had enough time to eat something. She went into the small kitchen and made herself a sandwich, which she ate, before walking back to her room, to take everything she needed and packing it into a small bag.

As she arrived at her workplace -a small café, she opened up herself- it was already 7:50 am. Being a bit stressed, she went into her small office, putting her stuff on the floor, before looking on her phone. A small message popped up, which made her sigh.

Max

»Good morning. I'm sorry for the sudden message. I seem to have gotten the flue, so I won't be attending work for a few days. I will go to the doctor later, I'm going to inform you how it went.«

The woman slammed her phone down on the wooden table. One of her workers was on vacation, so now, that Max isn't coming, it's only herself and Seth. She shook her head and walked out of her office, only to be greeted my said man. She smiled at him and greeted him back.

"Hey. I'm glad you came. Max is sick.", she told him, while rubbing her temples. "Oh. Well, it's not like we can't handle it alone, right?", he said, putting a hand on her shoulder. He was right. It isn't the first time, that it was only them two. She smiled and nodded slightly, before walking to the entrance door and changing the sign from 'closed' to 'open'. Walking back to the counter, she looked at Seth, a simple question leaving her lips.

"How did you sleep?" It was a question she tends to ask every morning. Just to start a conversation. Seth smiled in return. "Pretty good. It was shockingly quiet last night.", he responded. Right, his roommate tends to be really loud at night, which leaves Seth to sleep badly. "So your roomie decided to finally be quiet?", Veronica asked, chuckling a bit. Seth only nodded in return and sighed quietly. Before any of them could say anything, the bell above the entrance door ringed, making them both look to the door. Veronica immediately walked behind the counter and greeted the costumer with a genuine smile.

"Welcome to 'a fresh tart', what can I get for you?", she said, with her thick russian accent, while eyeing the man infront of her. He had brown hair, with sideburns on either side of his head. His eyes looked tired, with big eyebags underneath them. His outfit was simple, a red flannel with blue jeans. He looked around, a bit suspiciously. "Uhm, a black coffee and... a blueberry muffin.", he answered, while staring at the woman. Something about him made the hair on her neck stand up and a cold shiver ran down her spine. She swallowed thick, while nodding and getting his order ready. The whole time, she could feel him staring holes into her back, which certainly made her feel very tense. When she was done, she put the coffee and muffin infront of him, slightly smiling at the man.

"That's 4,95 please.", she said, trying to sound confident. The man didn't do anything for about half a minute. Just staring at her. After what felt like an eternity, he finally pulled out the money and put it on the counter, before taking his order and walking out the door. Veronica finally relieved her muscles, turning to look at Seth. He looked at her with a worried look on his.

"Are you okay?", he asked, concerned for his boss. "Did you just see that? Oh my god, that was so creepy. He totally stared at me.", she answered, shaking off the disgust of her body, "I hope he never comes back." Seth just laughed and shook his head. They don't get costumers like that often, but when they do, she always seems so disturbed. Understandable, you don't know what weird people walk around in this small city.

The rest of the day seemed pretty normal. Though, Veronica couldn't stop thinking about the man from earlier. Something about him just didn't feel right. She shook her head, trying to get rid of the weird feeling inside of her. She would probably never see him again, it was just a weird customer. That happened before, but it never feeled so weird like today. Sighing, she looked st the clock. 4:40pm, only 20 minutes to go. She looked to the door, seeing another customer come in. Who she saw there, made her blood run cold. It was the weird man from before, only this time, he had a friend with him. A man in his mid twenties, with dark blonde hair, wearing a yellow hoodie. They walked up to the counter, the man from before, smirking ever so slightly. She swallowed the lump in her throat, before smiling at the two man.

"Back again? What can I get for you two?", she asked in a fake nice tone. The man's friend wanted to speak, before getting cut off. "A black coffee again.", he answered, his friend looking at him in an annoyed way. She nodded, looking away from him, to the blonde man. "And for you, sir?", she asked. "Coffee, with a bit of milk. Two packs of sugar.", he said in a monotone voice. She nodded, preparing their order, while thoughts were running through her head. The weird feeling she got from him came back. She couldn't shake it off. But she ignored it, wanting to stay professional. She turned around, bringing the men their orders. Telling them the price, she looked at the clock. The brown haired man didn't do anything. Again. He just stared at her, while the other one pulled out money and put it on the counter. They took the coffee's and turned around, walking away, without saying a single word. Veronica couldn't bring herself to say anything, so she just stood there, watching the two men walk away.

5:10pm. She sat in her car, doing nothing for a few minutes. After some time, she let out a sigh and started the car, before she started to drive home. On the way, she listened to music, which brightened up her mood. But she couldn't help noticing someone standing in the forrest next to the road. She looked at them for a few seconds, before looking back at the road. The person had a white, dirtied hoodie and black, shoulder long hair. She couldn't quite make out the face. She just shook her head concentrating on the road, not wanting to drive into something. The rest of the drive, she had an eerie feeling. Like she was being watched, or someone was following her. Just shaking it off, she finally arrived at home, where she changed into sweatpants and a tanktop. Now she got a few hours to herself, so she decided to try out a new recipe. Putting on some music, she then started to bake, the weird feeling from before being completely gone.
