Just as Veronica put the tray with the muffins into the oven, she heard a loud thump and shattering, coming from her room. She froze, looking into the direction of her room. After a moment of just standing there, thinking of the worst possibilities, she decided to walk to her room. Immediately as she entered the room, a cold breeze hit her. The window was wide open and a vase was on the floor, broken, with the flowers and water all over the floor. She stood in shock, taking in the scenery infront of her. Finally, she ran to the window, closing and locking it, before getting the supplies to clean the floor.

"And my favourite vase too...", she mumbled to herself, shaking her head. Quickly, she cleaned up and decided to lovk every other windows and the front door of her apartment. Having a weird feeling, like someone was watching her, she walked into the kitchen, taking the biggest knife and looking around for any intruder. She cautiously walked around her entire apartment, looking through every single room, only to find nothing. She sighed, putting the knife away and walking back to her room, to look out the window. And there she saw someone; a man, standing in the forrest behind her apartment, with an orange jacket and a... mask? She shook her head, before taking a closer look. The mask was white, with black feminine features. Black lips, black eyes and arched eyebrows. He just stood there, not moving. Not at all. He seemed to look at the young woman. She could take her eyes off of him, while starting to slightly shake in fear. Was that the man, that broke into her apartment? What did he want from her? She didn't know what to do. Finally being able to move, she pulled down the curtains of her window and turned off the light. Then she walked back into the kitchen, continuing to bake.

A few days passed by. Nothing happened. She didn't see the masked man again and she was relieved about it, hoping, that it was just some kind of stupid prank a teen pulled on her. The men that showed up at her café on monday, didn't show up again either. Now that she started thinking about them, the man that gave her that weird feeling... It was the same feeling, she had, when looking at the masked man. Could it be... No. She shook her head.

"Your mind is just playing tricks.", she whispered, holding her head in her hands. She was currently sitting in her office, not feeling well. Seth reassured her, that he could handle the costumers on his own, so she could relax a bit. She was thankful to have such a good employee. It was friday, she was excited to have two days off. Though, she has to go to a party tomorrow. Her best friend, Maria begged her to go and she couldn't decline. Maybe it was good to go out again. She didn't party for a few weeks, she didn't even do anything else, than work and sleep. Smiling a bit, she thought about the last party she went to. It was fun, maybe it will be fun tomorrow too. Looking at the clock, she stood up. 4:50pm. Ten more minutes.

"Hey uhm, Maria is here.", she heard Seth's voice from outside the door. Sighing, she walked to the door and opened it. "Did she say, what she wants?", Veronica asked, to which Seth only shook his head. She looked at him for a few second, before she walked to the counter, seeing her best friend leaning on it, playing with the bamboo straws. When she saw Veronica, her eyes brightened up and she immediately waved at her. "Hey! God, I missed you. Are you still coming to the party tomorrow?", she talked a bit too loud, to which some costumers looked at her, with an annoyed expression. "Hey, don't be so loud, geez. Yes, I'm going.", Veronica answered, before apologizing to the costumers. "Good. I'll sleep at yours today.", Maria grinned, clapping her hands together. The woman sighed and looked at her friend. "Didn't you want to sleep at my place tomorrow after the party?", she asked, not too fazed about Maria already wanting to sleep at her place today. Her friend sighed and pouted at her. "My mom's annoying me.", she said, pressing her hands together, looking at Veronica with pleading eyes, to which she sighed. "Alright, alright. Geez, when will you finally get your own fucking apartment?", she chuckled in defeat and looked at the clock. Her shift was over, so she walked to Seth. "Alice is gonna be here in an hour. You sure you can do it alone? I can stay until she's here, if you want me to.", she said, with the offer at the end. Seth shook his head. "It's fine, Vero. Yesterday you were alone the whole day. I can handle it on my own for an hour.", he reassured her, smiling friendly. After a moment, she nodded, smiling slightly. "Alright, but call me, when you need something.", she said, walking to her office and taking her things. "I'll see you on Monday. Bye!", she waved at Seth, as she walked out the door, alongside her friend Maria.

When they arrived at her place, she excused herself to go and take a quick shower. She walked into her bathroom, while Maria went into the kitchen, to make some food. Veronica took a shower, before changing into something comfortable. She took off her makeup and walked out of the bathroom, to the kitchen. She expected Maria to stand there, but she didn't. Food stood on the table, ready to be eaten. "Maria? Where are you?", she yelled, walking out of the kitchen. "In- In your room.", Maria yelled back, making Veronica walk towards her room. "What are you-", she stopped dead in her tracks, looking at yet another broken vase on the floor. Her eyes travelled to the window, that was wide open. "Maybe it was your cat.", Maria stated. "She was in the bathroom with me...", Veronica said, so Maria ditched the theory. "Did you- open the window?", she then asked, to which Maria shook her head. "Wasn't it open before?", she asked. Veronica shook her head. "No, I always close all my windows, before I leave for work.", she said, as she walked to the window, to close and lock it. While doing so, she looked out the window, seeing the same figure from Monday standing there. Her blood ran cold and she slightly started shaking.

"Vero? Are you okay.", Maria asked, but she didn't listen. She couldn't stop looking at the figure, that probably even broke into her apartment. Then, something inside of her snapped. She quickly opened the window and pointed at the figure. "I swear to god, if this is some kind of sick prank, I'll go fucking crazy. Fuck off, you creep. I'm fucking warning you!", she screamed, done with whatever that fucker was doing. But he didn't move. No sign of reaction. "What the fuck is wrong with you, psycho?!", she continued to scream. After a few seconds, she felt Maria's hand on her shoulder, making her turn around quickly, breathing heavily, as she looked at Maria with wide eyes. "What is-", she started, but Veronica cut her off. "He's gone! I swear to fucking god, someone just stood there! The same fucking man from Monday!", she yelled, as she turned back around, to see the man gone. "Hey, calm down. It's okay. Go lay down, I'll clean up.", Maria said, in a comforting voice, patting Veronica's back, to which she slowly calmed down. Still shaking, she nodded and walked to the living room, to sit down and turn on the TV. The rest of the evening went uneventful. They ate the food Maria cooked and watched a few movies, before both going to sleep.
