"So I'm just your good-for-nothing lackey, huh?" Dice yelled, slamming the throne room door open.
"Hmm... So you heard that..." The Devil sat upright in his throne. "Yes, and what of it?"
"Is that all I am to you? Just some kind of slave? Just somebody to do your bidding?!"
"You do work for The Devil, I thought that would be at least somewhat implied." He grinned a selfish grin.
"20 YEARS and you deem me as NOTHING!"
"Pretty much." That wasn't really true, but he has a reputation to preserve. Have you ever heard of The Devil apologizing?
"Y'know, Boss, a little respect goes a l o o o o o o n g way!" His finger was pointing straight at the golden-horned man.
"Respect?! You absolutely entitled BASTARD, do you really think I have to respect anyone?! I could blow you to bits RIGHT NOW if I wanted to!" He shook his oversized fork at Dice.
"Uhh... I'll leave you guys to... t h i s..." Henchman said, awkwardly inching away, exiting the large room.
"OHHHHHH!! That's RICH! You know full well that you couldn't live without me, you PATHETIC excuse for The Devil!" Dice's head turned to his second side, which revealed two gaping, almost triangular holes that served as eyes, his teeth grinding tightly together. ( I'll explain the head-turning thing at the end of the chapter. )
"I don't need you! In fact, you need me!"
"The only reason I 'need' you for anything," Dice said, using air quotes. "is to sign my paycheck! But lucky for me, I won't e needing you for that anymore either!"
"Oh yeah?! And why's that?"
"BECAUSE I QUIT!"
"Nobody quits on me!" The Devil banged his pitchfork on the ground, causing the flames surrounding the room to grow larger.
"Well, I just did, GENIUS!" Dice roughly grabbed his tie and threw it on the ground. It was a present from The Devil on Dice's 1 year anniversary as an employee.
"Oh, if you want to be that way, then fine!"
"FINE!" Dice dramatically turned around and stepped out. "I never liked that tie anyway." And with that, he slammed the large, elaborate doors once more, filling the room with a chilling silence.
"fine..." The Devil said once more, only a whisper this time. He slowly sat back down in his velvet throne, running his sharp claws through his mess, unkept fur, letting out a deep, heavy sigh. His chest had tightened so much that it hurt.

"Can't believe that selfish jerk. Too stuck up to even apologize! That idiot just lost me a damn good job. GAH! Good riddance!" Dice mumbled, storming away. As he made his way over to the big, winding staircase, he sighed. "Great..."
Suddenly, he heard a familiar "ding!". "Going up?" asked Henchman with an awkward smile.
"Oh, why thank you, that's quite kind of you." He stepped in.
"Y'know, I think that was a real brave thing you just did there." Henchman looked up at Die in amazement.
"Oh, he just makes my blood boil, that's all. A friendly dose of rage does that to a person." He smiled wearily.
"He needs you more than he realizes..." Henchman looked at his feet. "He never really knows what he needs... It's what he thinks he needs that he's focused on."
"Yes, well even if that were the case, he's too stubborn for me to work for him or support it anymore. He's even more dramatic than I am! And that's saying something."
"Give him some time. He'll figure it out soon enough, I'm almost certain."
"Almost." Dice looked down. "Almost..."
"Hope you find yourself a nice job!" He said. "With a kind boss."
"If such a thing exists, I hope so too." He patted Henchman on the head as the elevator doors began to creak open. "Good luck with him. Hope he doesn't give you too much grief, you poor thing."
They both waved goodbye as Dice stepped out and entered the clearing of grass ahead of them.
"Make sure he's alright..." Dice said before the doors closed once again. "...for me."
Dice sighed and stared into space. "Alright, let's go job hunting." Here we go again.
