It had been 3 months since I'd left my old job.

It's getting a little chilly now. Ready to play music on a Friday night, I rushed into the building to feel the warmth of the heating system. I sighed as I carefully hung my purple tailcoats onto the rack in the staff "lounge". It was more of a cold, slightly oversized closet if you ask me. The bare room only had two chairs and a small table.

I made my way over to the bar and took the seat next to Stephen, who was wiping a glass dry with a towel. "How's it goin'?" I asked.

"I'm doing fine, thanks," He replied. "And yourself?"

"Tired as always, but good." The night before I didn't sleep much. I was thinking about... stuff...

"Can I ask you something?" He carefully placed the now clean glass on the counter, then brought his attention back to me. "What's up with Boss kissin' your hand?"

"Ah, jeez, I don't know! It's gross, but he's my employer so I just have to put up with it." I groaned and slumped down in my chair.

"Fair enough," He chuckled. "Guess we should open up soon."

"Yeah, guess so."

Meanwhile, back in the fiReY piTs Of H. E. DoUbLe hOcKEy stiCks. (Damn that just gave me such elementary school nostalgia--)

(Devil's pov)

I've been miserable for the past 3 months. All of my employees are so absolutely INCOMPETENT that I could just STRANGLE them! Why the hell did I even hire them?! Since Dice left, I've been more unproductive than ever. I hate myself for ever uttering those words to Henchman. I didn't expect Dice to overhear me. I didn't even mean it! He's my best employee!

I sat on my throne mumbling things to myself. "Uh, Boss?" Henchman approached.

"What?" I scowled.

Are you okay? You seem a little... off... today."

"I'm fine."

He paused for a moment. "Y'know, Boss, ya coulda been a lot more apologetic when he left..."

"Apologetic? To whom?"

"Uh... Dice, Sir..."

"I don't need him." (B R U H)

"No, see, that's where you're wrong."

"I'm... sorry?" I frowned intensely.

"Don't fool yourself, Boss. I'm with you almost all the time, and I see the way you look at him. You CARE a great deal for him, whether you like it or not, and the thought of him being hurt hurts you. Just admit it, Boss!"

"Admit what? I... I don't know what you're talking about!"

"YOU LOVE HIM, BOSS! AND YOU NEED HIM!" Henchman practically yelled. "And let me just say, you're a real fool to let him walk away, especially without that tie!"

Everything was completely silent. I... love Dice?! No, that can't be right! We've been working together for, what, 20 years? He's just an employee!

"I'm telling you, Henchman, you're totally wrong," I said. "I don't need him--"

"Then why did it hurt so bad when he left?"

........Why did it?

"I saw you clutching your chest and sitting in utter silence instead of throwing a fit, like how you do when you're angry. You hurt him, Boss, and that hurt you."

I sat there, not saying anything, not even daring to breathe.

"Go find him. Apologize. Tell him you care." And with that, he was off.

Guess it's time to track down a well-dressed die.
