Operation: Ice Cream

"How do you sleep so heavily?" Winona asked Farah as the eight of them stumbled out of the van at the rest area. 

"I'm too used to your noise for it to bother me anymore." She answered, adjusting her pastel pink hijab. 

"I wish I could do that!" 

"I need to run!" Sherwin exclaimed, jogging in place so fast that his legs went blurry. 

"Stop that!" Oriana commanded, freezing his lower half in place. 

"Hey! Let my legs exist in the flow of time again!"

"Only if you walk like a normal person."

"I will!"

Ori released him but the momentum from his previous movement combined with his brain being unprepared caused Sherwin's legs to kick up from under him and he fell on his butt. He strained as he asked, "Where's Akay?"

"I'm here. I had to dig out our period bag from under someone's trombone case."

"I didn't know where else to put it! The place I usually stash it was occupied by Winona's suitcase!"

"Did you get what you need?" Oriana asked. 

"Yeah. We should stop at a store soon though, we're almost out of tampons."

Melanie helped Cronus get out of the cluttered van then put in her hearing aid. Cronus looked at the mannequin forearm sitting on their seat but decided not to use it yet, it's not like they were helpless without it. It wasn't a very sophisticated prosthetic but their ability made that negligible. If they truly needed two hands, they could just ask someone else. 

"Does anyone else need anything from the period bag?" Akay asked the group. They received a chorus of no's, including one from Sherwin who was promptly bonked on the head for his joke, so they tossed the bag back into the trunk and left for the bathrooms.

"I'm going too." Sherwin said. 

"Make sure you're walking!" Oriana called after him. 

"Yes, Mom!" But to his credit, Sherwin didn't break into super speed while in the group's line of sight. 

"Does anyone else have to go? We'll be in the car for a while yet."

"Sherwin's right. You are the mom friend." Cronus laughed. 

Ori looked flustered, "I am not!"

"You always carry extra napkins in your purse." Melanie said. 

"Because y'all are so messy!"

"You tried to cut my steak for me the last time we ate at a restaurant." Theo added. 

"The waitress accidentally gave it to me, I didn't want to make her feel awkward!"

"You set no less than ten alarms any night before we have to wake up early or before we have to do something important." Cronus said. "I've counted."

"I do that because I know you'll forget. You and Farah are notoriously heavy sleepers! And what about Winona? She does some of the same 'mom things' that I do!"

"I'd say that Winona's more like the business-savvy single aunt that babysits sometimes and lets you stay up late." Farah said. 

"Why thank you, Farah." Winona grinned. 

"Really? You're taking their side too? I thought you were the well-behaved child, Farah."

"If it makes you feel any better, you're definitely a wine mom."
