As the sun slowly rose the morning was beginning. Birds were starting to chirp as a beautiful orange color shining from the sun began appearing in the sky. As a cool breeze filled the air with the last of leaves falling off the trees, our protagonist of the story, Felix, was beginning to wake up. As Felix was in a peaceful sleep suddenly a blaring alarm clock filled the room as he shot up awake, he quickly hit the top of the clock turning it off with a little bit of force. Felix yawned while stretching his arms up into the air.
"I have to get a new alarm clock one of these days," He said, sighing.
Felix slowly got out of bed before walking over to his closed window. As he opened it a large gust of wind filled his room as it was much colder outside than in his room.
"Morning Felix," a sudden younger voice said behind him.
Felix Turned around to see his younger brother Hunter standing in his doorway.
"Good Morning Hunter," Felix replied, closing his window.
"Hunter! Come Down here!" A Voice yelled from downstairs.
Hunter then quickly walked back out of his room and out of sight, even though this happened Felix knew where he was going. Felix walked over to his wardrobe as he skimmed through the clothes he had. Felix ended up choosing a Purple T-Shirt with a black Zip-Up Hoodie to go over it, he chose black pants as well with gray socks. Felix then walked out of his room and began descending down the stairs of his second story house. As he began walking down the stairs he began hearing the rest of his family in the kitchen, as he got closer to the bottom he started hearing them more and more louder. Finally making it to the bottom Felix noticed the clock mounted on the wall and realized he had 30 Minutes until he needed to be out the door.
A small sigh of relief left Felix as he had plenty of time and didn't need to rush this morning. Felix walked into the kitchen of his house to see his family eating at the table, his brother and mother were watching the news while his father had his head deep into this morning's newspaper. Felix's father had buttered toast this morning, his brother and mother were happily enjoying some waffles that were drenched in maple syrup with the scent filling the room. Felix noticed his mother had not made breakfast for him again, Felix didn't mind this though because he usually ate cereal with milk. One thing Felix however enjoyed less was that there was never a chair for him at the table. Felix walked past the table and got some cereal out of a cabinet, a bowl, and milk from the fridge.
"Morning," He said towards his family sitting at the table.
Felix got no response but a glance from them. His little brother Hunter attempted to say something but his mother nudged him, stopping whatever he was about to say. Felix prepared his breakfast by adding a spoon as the finishing touch, as he was about to leave the room, a sudden news report on the tv caught his eye.
"Breaking New!" The news anchor said.
"There has been recent reports of a murderer on the loose, nobody knows when or where they strike. So make sure to watch your backs," The second news anchor added.
Felix was a bit surprised since for as long as he's lived in this town he never has seen a report like that. After getting a cup of water Felix then left the kitchen making his way into his living room. He took his seat on the vacant couch and picked up a book on a table to his side. He skimmed through it until stopping at a page with a bookmark stuck onto it. Felix began eating the cereal while continuing his book.
Felix enjoyed this book in particular because it was perfect for him, it was a mystery novel which always had such expressive words that made Felix feel like he was in the book himself. A couple of more minutes passed by reading his book. Felix stopped when he saw nothing left in his bowl but milk. Felix turned his head towards a clock in the room and saw 25 minutes had passed. He was a bit shocked that he spent that long reading but knew he had to get out the door to catch the bus. Felix put the bookmark back into the book and placed it back in its original spot, he took his bowl and walked into the kitchen and gently placed it in the sink. Felix then walked out of the kitchen into the hall that had both the front door and stairway on opposite sides.
"Hold on," His father said suddenly.
"What?" Felix questioned.
"You remembered the house rules," His father replied
"You really want to talk about that right now, I don't want to be late to school," Felix said, sighing.
"We have forbidden you to talk to hunter, we've already confiscated your phone so you don't talk to that girl," His father said.
"Oh, if you wanted to talk about this, can I ask the usual question?" Felix said, getting aggravated.
"And it is?" His father said.
"Why! you two treat me like some stranger! All my life Hunter has never talked to me longer than 10 seconds! This is all because of my two different eye colors!" Felix said, snapping.
"Well if that's how you are going to be, Get out!" Felix's father said.
Felix grabbed his backpack making sure he had everything in there and finally left the house, slamming the door out of anger. Felix left his house double checking that he had everything while calming down. He was confident that he had everything accounted for. But it soon dawned on him what he forgot.
"I forgot to make myself lunch," He said, sighing while putting his hand up to his forehead.
Felix realized something else
"Ugh, I forgot to put my contacts in as well!" He said with anger
Felix got upset that he forgot this thing in particular, Felix had this special condition where his eyes had two different colors, he started using contacts because he would get picked on at school for having these kinds of eyes. His family also didn't really like him for the eyes either, this caused them to shun Felix away from his little brother hunter. His father's reaction most likely was present because Felix forgot his contacts that day. After mentally cursing himself for forgetting this Felix then checked his pockets to see that he had 10 dollars on him.
"Well I guess I can get the school lunch today," He said putting the money back into his pocket.
Felix then began walking off his porch feeling the familiar cool air he felt this morning. He admired the scenery as he saw the red and yellow colored trees slowly having leaves fly off them whenever the wind blew. Felix then opened the small gate that surrounded his yard as he walked towards the mailbox. Felix checked to see if anything was there today but found nothing but an empty mailbox. Felix then began his short walk to the bus stop where he gets picked up, while walking he gazed at the decorations the neighborhood had for this halloween. Felix liked how creative his neighbors were when it came to decorations and how much time they spent.
Felix checked his watch to see that he had a couple of minutes to spare until he had to board the bus that would soon be there. Felix didn't know why but was in a great mood today as he usually never was excited about going to school. He then remembered that it was Halloween the following day and was on a weekend. Felix then felt a large gust of wind blow past him, this happening caused Felix to close his jacket due to the temperature. Winter was soon approaching and Felix was excited for snow to hopefully start falling soon. As Felix began thinking about the upcoming winter and how an exciting night Halloween would be, he heard an approaching vehicle.
He turned to see the bus had just arrived at his stop, Felix then approached and boarded the bus. As he got on he greeted the bus driver and began walking to his assigned seat. While walking down the row he saw there were a lot of kids on the bus today. Most of them were just talking with others while some were asleep. Some of the kids noticed Felix and gave him a few glances. Felix knew he wasn't the most popular as he was quiet and never tried to talk to a lot of people.
So it was pretty normal to get some weird glances from time to time. Felix eventually made it to the back where he was seated, he sat at his vacant seat as he felt the bus begin to move. Felix was a bit irritated by how loud everyone was being so he tried his best to ignore it, he knew he was going to have a lot to do at school today so he wanted to try and be relaxed before he had to get off the bus and walk into school. Felix dug into his backpack trying to find something, a minute later he took out a pair of headphones and connected them to his phone. He sat back with a notepad and played some music. He leaned back as he began sketching on the pad, tapping his pen along with the beat of his music. Soon enough Felix was getting a bit too comfortable as he laid his head back as his eyes slowly closed, drifting him off to sleep.
