Chapter 3: Something's Not Right

" Woah, that's gross."

" Shit do you think someone pushed her?"

" There's no way..."

" Isn't she Aira? "

" Oh my god, what's happening? "

" Do you think our school's cursed or something? We just survived an accident two weeks ago. "

Lily sat quietly on the bench not far from the scene. The body was already sent away, her bones and head were crushed due to the impact and she died on the spot. The rooftops of the school buildings were locked and the night classes were canceled due to what happened.

" Do you think they'll suspend our classes again? " One of the students asked while passing by.

" Seriously? You have the guts to think about that right now? You're heartless! " Her friend blurted out while shaking her head which made Lily nod his head unconsciously in agreement.

' Yeah, we're heartless. ' he thought and looked blankly at the crowded group of students who are trying to look at the crime scene.

' Someone died again huh? Guess everyone's dying except me ' Lily added and opened the zipper of his bag to take out his phone.

The school gates were closed and shut down because of the incident. No one's certain that Aira killed herself therefore everyone is a potential suspect. Of course, the students will be allowed to get back home within this day but the authorities are wishing for the students' cooperation before they do.

" The victim had her last interaction with you, would you mind if I ask you a few questions? " An old detective asked seriously while holding a notepad. He's talking to a teacher who seems to be in shock at what happened. He's trembling and Lily can see it just by observing how he fidgets with his glasses.

' That's the homeroom teacher ' Lily thought certainly upon realizing who he is based on his behavior.

[ Mom sent you a message. ]

A notification popped up as soon as he opened the lock screen. Lily licked his drying lips and then opened his mom's text message.

[ Mom: Where are you? It's already late. You said you'll be dismissed early because it's exam day.]

Lily don't know why but he suddenly felt irritated by seeing that message. There's nothing wrong with it, in fact, it was sweet, but he cannot help it.

' Someone killed herself at school. I had to cooperate with the authorities— ' Lily's hand stopped in the middle of typing his text. He stared intently at the screen and tilted his head to the side as he think deeply. He clicked his tongue and immediately erased everything before composing another one.

[Me: I will be late today, got things left to do. Don't wait for me. ]

He tapped the characters on his phone and hit send. He sighed and then looked at the scene once again, he shook his head when he saw his friends still curiously looking at the scene.

" Those fuckers, don't they know that you can't go near the crime scene? " He whispered to himself but harshly looked in the detective and teacher's direction when he heard a loud sob.

Lily frowned deeply when he saw the victim's homeroom teacher bursting into tears. His body is trembling and he can't even speak properly. His words are now muffled as he keeps on sniffing and sobbing his heart out.

' He must've thought that it's his fault ' he thought shaking his head. Lily heard what happened in the corridor, he knows Aira will surely get nagged at by the teacher, and he also knows about the 15 deduction points in every subject, but Lily's unsure if he should say something— he'd rather not.
