[Hey, author here. I prefer he/him pronouns, but she/her works too. I'm still relatively early in the Genshin story, so please avoid spoilers.]

Dreams were a peculiar thing, especially when she could never predict what would happen next.

Especially when it was practically the only thing she could do these past few days.

"Huh?" Her surprise was deserved. So was his, considering this wasn't the first time she had invaded his sleep.

He frowned, amber eyes clouding with confusion. "You... again?"

It was difficult, deciding how to respond to the boy. What could gouge out the best reaction? What could satisfy them both?

After all, he was the best muse she had right now. Thanks to her predicament in the waking world, dreams had become her best source of entertainment. What was puzzling, however, was that these weren't her dreams.

No, it belonged to this mystery boy before her.

The previous night was the first time she saw him. Being unaware that this conjured realm wasn't her mind's doing, but his, she traversed the landscape with a soft and curious smile.

Her dreams had been harsh in the past while, so it was a nice break. The colours consisted of soft creams and blues; her reality made up of only harsh scarlets and dull greys of despair.

The pastel sun kissed her skin, caressing her form with the courteous zephyr holding her hands. It was serene.

"Wow..." Her breath slipped past her lips; the land beneath her feet was an orchestra of clouds and heaven. Giggling, she dashed forwards and leaped into the air, feeling weightless as she bounced across the fluffy and trampoline-like cloud ground. Leaping and bounding like a happy deer, or a dolphin jumping in and out of water.

She knelt down, crossing her legs as she sat and swished her hands through the kind and soft material. It felt like a pond of luxury, the softest sheets of the comfiest beds. A cloudland? What a... perfect dream.

However, the tranquillity of it all faded when her eye caught on a figure in the distance. Hmm? That's weird. If this is a lucid dream then... I don't remember thinking up a person.

Then again, I suppose it can't be a lucid dream. I don't remember thinking of any of this.

But I'm aware it's a dream, right? So... what is this, then?

Pulling herself to her feet, she took cautious steps towards the figure. His back was turned, however she could see the outline of a masculine body. He wasn't incredibly bulky, yet retained enough muscle to make her slow to a halt.

He leaned against his spear, the arm resting on it embellished gorgeously with a unique tattoo. A mask hung on his belt whilst other loose articles of clothing were brushed gently by the wind.

This stranger seemed content to stare out at the horizon, taking long breaths as he urged himself to relax. This task appeared to be rather difficult as his foot tapped in agitation and his hand occasionally twitched against the pole of his spear, as if he were resisting jumping up and doing something harrowing. Something devastating and destructive. Something costly that'll only fill him with regret.

Who... is that?

Her footsteps were silent as she traversed the cloud-floor towards where the boy sat, one knee up whilst the other leg hung off the ledge. The arm that wasn't holding onto the spear was propped behind him,  balancing his weight.
