Cassidy was out on another mission and you were stuck at base helping Angela with paperwork. He told you it was an easy one; it would only take about a day or two, but its been 2 weeks with no word from him or anyone else out there with him. You knew missions don't always go as planned and could take longer than expected, but even so, you were worried, scared. You trusted Cassidy in his ability to fight and take care of himself, however you couldn't shake the thought of him being injured or even dead. With that thought playing over and over, you couldn't stop your mind from buzzing with worst case scenarios.

"Y/n, are you alright?" Angela spoke softly, standing in front of you.

"I...I'll be fine, it's okay." You smiled, hoping she wouldn't press further.

"If you say so." She chuckled and you smiled once more, taking the papers she finished signing off of her desk and walking to the filing cabinet.

As you sat down and started filing the papers into their appropriate folders, your mind began to wonder again. You couldn't sleep the night before, concern for your lover keeping you on edge. You cried, a lot. So much so that the others were beginning to take notice. Lena asked if you were okay this morning, claiming she heard you weep the night before. Soldier even called you into his office, staying vague of course, but expressed his concern and now Angela. You knew this was taking a toll on you, but you couldn't help it.

"What if he's dead?" you whispered to yourself as the thought crawled it's way back into your mind.

"Hm?" Angela hummed, turning to look at your figure.

You were trembling. Warm tears began to well in your eyes as you let out a heavy, shaky breath. You slowly put away the last of the papers and Angela cautiously made her way over to you.

"Y/n..." She crouched down beside you and put her hand on your shoulder.

You shook your head and stood up, attempting to act stoic. "Is that all for today?"

You didn't wait for an answer, you didn't have time to wait for one, you knew it was done anyway. You hurried out of her office and ran to your room, ignoring anyone who tried to ask you what was wrong. Slamming the door behind you, you leaned against it with your face in your hands and fell to the floor, sobbing. Gasping for air as your hands became soaked with your tears.

You couldn't take this anymore. All the anxiety, the concern, no contact, no way to make sure he was okay was becoming too much for you to handle. The man you loved was out there, probably dead, you didn't get to say goodbye. The last memory you had was him waking you up early in the morning to tell you he was leaving. He said he loved you and he would see you in just a few days, but that was weeks ago. You were too tired the day he left and just hummed in response to him. You remembered his little chuckle afterwards and the warmth of his lips pressed to your forehead, ever so gently. You missed him so much, it felt like you were mourning him, but he's still alive...who were you kidding, he cant be.

You dragged yourself back up onto your feet and sauntered your way to your bed, falling face first into the mattress. Your tears now leaving a wet spot on the sheets. Your sobs and screams were muffled, the bed taking the blow of your overwhelming pain. Gripping the blankets until your knuckles turned white, you let out a blood curdling shriek. Soon. exhaustion took over your body and you passed out.

You jumped awake to a loud, hard knock at your door. You looked around, frazzled, trying to find a clock. 4 am.

"Shit, did we have a meeting or something?" you said to yourself as you rushed to get up, appearance not relevant.

You went to the door and reluctantly opened it to see Soldier. Standing tall with his arms crossed, you could feel his stern glare staring down at you through his visor, making you feel smaller than ever.
