Kankri watched as you sat on the floor, pushing you toy cars around and taming them into each other. It seemed to be a great source of fun to you. It also entertained Kankri, what with your silly sound effects and constant giggling. He sometimes even joined in on the fun.

As you shouted explosion noises - Boom! Kablooey! - Kankri kept an eye on the clock. Your parents made it very clear that they wanted you in bed before they got home at 9:00 p.m. It was already 8:30.

"( y/n ), I know you're having fun," Kankri said, "but unfortunately, I think it's time for bed."

You frowned. "But Mr. Kankri, can't I stay up a little bit longer?" Oh, the way you called him 'Mr. Kankri' tugged at his heartstrings, and you knew it, too.

"On any other occasion, I would say yes." Kankri sighed, "However, your mother and father made it very clear they wanted you in bed before they got home, and it's already 8:30."

"Okay..." You muttered with a sigh.

Kankri saw that you were upset, so he quickly thought of a way to fix it. "Say, ( y/n )... if you get ready for bed fast enough, maybe I'll have just enough time to tell you a bedtime story." He ruffled your hair and gave you a big smile.

You gasped. "Really?" Kankri nodded. Without another word, you ran up the stairs in a rush to get ready.

Isn't she adorable... Kankri thought to himself.

Kankri peeked inside your room to see you tucked under [f/c] covers, snug as a bug. You grinned at him, obviously excited for the bedtime story about to come.

He took a seat on the edge of the bed. He then glanced over at your bookshelf. "So, what book would you like me to read?"

You simply shook your head. "All those books are boring. Why don't you just make up a story?"

Kankri looked up at the clock. He had fifteen minutes to get you to sleep, so he figured it wouldn't hurt to make up a short little story.

"Okay," He nodded, "sure."

You clapped your hands together and watched him with great interest. Any imaginative story was a good story to you.

Kankri cleared his throat. "Once upon a time in a kingdom far, far away, there lived a little princess called ( y/n )."

"Princess's can't be little," You corrected him, "they have to be big girls, ten at least!"

He sighed. "Okay, okay. The princess can be ten." He continued on, "Anywho, ( y/n ) was the ruler of a place called Alternia. She was the greatest ruler in all the land and everyone loved her."

"She sounds like a nice lady," you muttered with a smile.
