two: bother

Kim Taehyung was by no means "normal."

He was eccentric, with his personality warping and molding into whatever fit his situation. He could be stoic, outgoing, caring, and just "nice."

But he wasn't kind.

His niceness was always mistaken for flirting.

Being nice made things easy on him, but for whatever reason, it started backfiring when he started university. People often spread rumors about him. At one point, he was upset, but these days, he'd become so numb to it. So desensitized.

But if there was one person whom he could be his strange self in front of, it was the business department's ice queen: Kim Jisoo.

Unlike others, she did not put up with his antics. She was a fun person to bother, annoy, to pester. She'd sigh at him when she'd see him, frown, pout, roll her eyes.

Oddly enough, those were things he found alluring. He found those things very cute.

Since she took his name off the presentation, he decided that every day he'd go to the cafe to annoy her just because.

"Go away."

"Why?"

"Because I said so."

"So?"

"Jesus." She was wiping down a white mug.

"Christ." He replied, grinning.

He'd never noticed, but her fingers were long and slender. They looked like those of a doll, decorated with intricate silver rings.

"If you're here to bother me like you do every day, please don't."

She looked distressed all of a sudden, frantically wiping, drying, wiping, and drying damp mugs.

"What's wrong?"

She didn't answer him and instead went back to tuning him out like she usually did.

"Hey, can't you tell me?" He waved his hands near her as if to signal to her that he was real.

"No."

She didn't face him.

A moment later, she walked toward a table behind him to wipe it down, and he noticed that she was teary-eyed.

Was it his fault? Maybe he was just so annoying that it came to this. And he hated himself for it.

He usually pretended to care when he gave people a hard time, but he was in no way pretending right now.

"I'm sorry," He tried to face her, but she kept turning away, " I won't bother you anymore." He pleaded.

Taehyung turned on his heel and began to leave, but before he could, she knocked over a glass. He saw a glimpse of it in the air and then in pieces on the wooden floor.

For a moment, something stung, and he could see a crimson trail on his middle finger.

"I'm so sorry!" She looked even sadder; small tears began to drop onto his hand as she held it to examine it.

"I'll get out and treat it myself. I'm sorry for being so annoying. I won't come here from now on."

He smiled at her and tried to make his way out the door.

He was really garbage, making her cry.

She grabbed his hand.

"Wait."

"Yes?"

"Can we make a deal?"

"A deal?"

"It's not you, it's this film project I flunked. I can't live if my GPA is that low."

"Oh my, I guess we're in the same boat."

"Be serious for a minute."

"What's this deal?"

"Help me with my project, and I'll convince Professor Kang to give you full credit." She said.

If he was being honest with himself, he could care less about the project because he'd graduate either way due to another elective he decided to take, but this was a chance.

An opportunity.

"Deal."

For the first time, in the many months he'd bothered her, he'd seen her cry and now, seen her smile.

He guessed it wasn't so bad being a bother after all.
