Going Places Nick Daicos

Chapter 8

It has been accouple of months incident and the Suncorp super netball season has concluded. Nick and I are still together and that does not seem like it will change anytime soon. I am now sitting on my bed packing my suitcase with Australian commonwealth games clothing. I got the news a couple of weeks ago that I will be a part of the diamonds team heading to and playing in Birmingham. I could not be more nerves but so excited at the same time. I got the call when in the middle of dinner with the boys at home.

FLASHBACK 

"This is so good Pat, I didn't know you could cook something that isn't poison or taste like shit" I smirk at him. Laughter erupts from Nick and Josh while my brother just scowls at me hitting me over the back of my head. I grab drinks for everyone and sit back down next to Nick. We get halfway done with dinner when my phone starts to ring.

"Turn it on silent and answer it later no phones at the dinner table" my brother says rolling his eyes

I look at the contact and see it is Stacey Marinkovich

"it's Stacey Marinkovich the coach of the Australian diamonds netball team" I say

"well what are you waiting for take it" my boyfriend says rushing me to take the call

I quickly answer the phone and walk out of the room

"hello" I answer

"Hi Emilia, it is Stacy the coach of the Australian diamonds how are you"

"Good how are you"

"Very well thanks. I have been watching you Play all year and I have been very impressed with your game play and shooting abilities. You are one incredible player especially for only being 18 years of age"

"Thank you it means a lot coming from you"

"You are very welcome but in saying that you have been selected to be a part of the Australian diamonds squad for the commonwealth games and not as a emergency you will be playing" she says and it leaves me speech less

"oh my god thank you so much i- I don't know what to say oh my god" I say in total shock

"haha you are very welcome we have about 2 weeks of training before we depart for Birmingham you will have a package sent to you in the next couple of days with all the commonwealth games attire including the opening ceremony and your dress we will see you on Thursday for the first training session"

"Yep got it again thank you so much"

"you so welcome bye"

"bye" I say.

I walk back into the dining room with a shocked look on my face still trying to process the information I was given.

When I walk in they all stop talking and look at me. Nick looks worried seeing the look on my face.

"What happened babe what did she say" he asks standing up in his spot

"Umm I have been selected to play at the commonwealth games with the Australian I diamonds" I say, and all their jaws drop for a minute while they make sense of what I just said.

Before I could blink I wrapped in Nicks arms and lifted in the air

"oh my god that's amazing congratulations" he says putting me down and kissing me

"hey move out of the way that's my sister I need my time" my brother says

"Congratulations sis" he says pushing Nick to the side and engulfing me in a hug.

"thanks" I said hugging him back.

When Pat let go Josh came over and kissed my cheek before hugging me

"you defiantly deserve it Em" he whispered

"Thanks Joshy" I smile as we pull apart.

We all sit down and finish dinner before going our separate ways after we did the dishes and cleaned up.

Nick and I went up to his Room and I jumped straight in his bed and snuggled in his blankets, while Nick just laughed at me before joining me, wrapping his arms around my torso and waist pulling me to lie on his chest listening to his heartbeat that could put me to sleep in an instant.

My eyes start to droop and shut when Nick says

"You know I am very proud of you, and you defiantly deserve it baby" he says while stroking and playing with my hair.

"Thank you Nicky" I say kissing his lips

"How long do you have before you leave and how long are you staying" he ask

"Umm we only have like two weeks of training before we leave" I say to him weary of how he would react to the little time that we have left

"that's great... I mean its not much time considering training and all but we can make it work" he says looking down into my eyes and the kissing the tip of my nose lovingly "we are gonna have the best two weeks of your life before you leave"

"Thanks Nick can't wait" I say through a yawn

"Your welcome gorgeous now get some sleep and we will talk in the morning" he says as my eyes close.

The last thing I know before I fall into my slumber is Nick whispering "goodnight beautiful see you in the morning". Before he falls asleep himself, he kisses my forehead and pulls me closer to him wrapping his arms around me tighter making me feel safe and secure as I slowly slip into dream world

Another chapter done. Sorry I have been a while I have been very busy with school, then I got covid again and I have also been suffering from a bit of writers block but I should be right for the next couple of weeks hopefully. I am gonna try my hardest to get more chapters out, they may not be as long tho.
