He's working late. You dropped him at work before going to spoons for drinks with your friends while you wait on him finishing work. You felt pretty that day, so for a treat you get all dressed up, a matching underwear set. As someone who has never went for a matching set, you knew you loved him from the fact you got a matching set in the first place to show him.
Drinks with friends were fun until two friends have a falling out so bad it turned into them brawling and getting all of you kicked out the pub. He works not far from spoons so you decide to walk there. With you being staggery drunk, walking around not the safest of towns and a poor sense of direction you start getting lost. So what normally takes 5 minutes turned into 15 minutes and not there yet at all.
The next minute you see a message on your phone from him to say that was him finished work and just getting his stuff. You get a text from someone you used to be friends with telling you how they had missed you and treated you poorly. There was so many bad memories from that person you just didn't want to deal with it. You were still walking when you were reading the messages and somehow ended up in the carpark at his work.
As soon as he spots you, he noticed your mood and body language and entire demenour and heads straight for you. He gives you that look before wrapping his arms around you, patting your back gently and telling you everything will be ok.
He holds you there for a while, in his arms feels like home. It was dark but no one had come to pick him up yet, this was quite unusual as he always gets picked up. He offers his arm for u to wrap round so still being close while being able to still walk easy.
You asked him where he was walking. As a girl who was afraid of most of anything, walking in the dark somewhere when you had no idea of the route or exact location was absolutely terrifying; but not now. He always makes u feel safe, like you could follow him anywhere.
You vaguely recognise your surroundings as you walk, but your eyes are just focused on him. The way he moves, so certain, so powerful yet so gentle all at once. He started talking and you soaked up every word, taking it in so intently that you know you could listen to him for hours and never tire of his voice. You weren't sure if it was the alcohol or him giving you butterflies in your stomach every time he'd turn to look at you to make sure you were alright.
He stops at a house, producing a door key you realise it's his house. He takes you inside, leading you to his room. He digs out a hoodie for you to sleep in, giving you a gentle forehead kiss as he hands you it. He tells you he's going to get the kitchen and leaves you to change.
He's barely beyond the threshold when you start changing. Like the rest of his room, the hoodie is bathed in his scent. The thought of being able to sneak a subtle sniff is too good of an opportunity to pass.
He came back into his room, glass of water in hand. He had gathered that you hadn't had anything other than alcohol, nevermind water, before you'd got upset and found him, so figured he'd give you a glass.
You drink at least half the water before you start looking at him with tired eyes. He tucks you into his bed, saying the same nightly routine as you and him normally exchange, it just hit closer in person. He decides to be a gentleman and shuffles over to his chair to sleep on for the night after turning the light out.
As soon as the light was off and the silence fell, everything just hit. You could smell him from the hoodie and his bedsheets but you were still in an unfamiliar place where your mind and loneliness started playing tricks on you.
After a bit you couldn't take it alone. So, in a gentle and hesitant tone, you say his name into the dark. You were worried you'd wake him or that he didn't hear you; but he did. He asked you if everything was ok and you told him how you were feeling soon as that light went off. He offered to come in beside you if you wanted that and you said yes.
You shuffle backwards to give him plenty space to be in. Even with the lights off it was like there was enough for him to see your facial expression and know what to do. He held his arms open for you to come closer. You scoot closer, smiling being in his arms again. He holds you to his chest and strokes your head until you fall asleep in his arms.
