~LEXIES APARTMENT~~It's impossible to describe the panic that comes over you when you're a surgeon and your pager goes off in the middle of the night. ~
Robin opens her eyes as Lexie grabs her pager for her, sighs and kisses her head as she turns over to go back to sleep.
~Your heart starts to race. Your mind freezes. Your fingers go numb. Your invested. They're someone's mom, someone's dad, someone's kid, and now it's on you, because that someone's life is in your hands. We're always invested in our patients. But when your patient's a child... You're not just invested... You're responsible... Responsible for whether or not that child survives, has a future. And that's enough to terrify anyone. ~
~OR ROOM~
"What's her status?" Robin says as she walks in the OR.
"Mom's heart rate and, uh, BP has been fluctuating, but she's ready for you." Alex says as he continues on the surgery.
"All right, Let's prep her for a craniotomy." Robin says as she looks at the scans.
"Apgar's only 4. We need to get to the NICU now." Arizona says looking at her.
~CALLIES APARTMENT~
"I always knew that Wallace's parents were wealthy, but not $25 million wealthy." Arizona states as her, Callie, Robin, Lexie and Mark were all in their apartment. "I mean, that's "libraries named after you" kind of money, "saved babies in Africa and has dinner at the white house regularly" type money." Arizona continues.
"People don't give me that kind of money." Mark states and continues, "You have an unfair advantage. You work with children."
"Oatmeal, side of fruit, wheat toast, hold the butter." Callie says, placing the fruit on the bar table.
"Thank you." Owen says, coming out of the bathroom.
"You know what? That money is gonna make such a difference for so many patients. It's-it's really amazing." Callie says to Arizona as she smiles back.
Mark looks to Robin and Lexie as the two girls were cuddled on the couch and says, "Maybe I should start doing more cleft-palate kids. Everyone's a sucker for those."
"Cheese omelet, extra butter, cinnamon toast, crispy bacon."
"Mine." Christina says walking out of the bathroom too.
"$25 million is pretty cool, right?" Arizona asks, smiling.
"Yeah." Callie agrees with her.
"Best birthday gift ever." Lexie says as she drinks a cup of coffee.
"Birthday gift?" Callie asks.
"Yeah. Well, 'Cause the money's a gift. I mean, technically it's for the hospital, not Arizona, but since your birthday's on Friday..." Lexie continues.
"Um... How does Little Grey know about your birthday and I don't?" Callie asks Arizona.
"Birthdays are just like any other days. I don't like the. Don't celebrate them. No big deal. $25 million? That's a big deal." Arizona answers her. "Crap. I'm gonna be late. I will see you there." Arizona continues as she kisses Callie.
"Mm-hmm. Hmm." Callie mumbles.
As Arizona shuts the door Callie talks to everyone again about it. "Okay, she's downplaying it, right? I'm her girlfriend. I have to do something for her birthday, right?"
"Yes." "No." Owen and Christina say at the same time.
"Of course you do. Oh! Oh! A-a surprise party." Lexie states.
