"Congratulations on the successful operation Doc Laur." I glanced at my team as one of my head nurses removed my surgical gloves. Exhaustion and relief are visible on their faces, but nevertheless, I can see that they are happy and proud that we were able to save one life today.
"Congratulations to you all for a job well done." they all clapped their hands and cheered each other.
"Lindsey." I looked at my head nurse. "Monitor the patient for any swelling that might come." I said as I made my way out of the operating room.
"I don't think that'll happen Doc, not on your operating table, that is." she grinned, I deadpanned which made her zip her mouth shut yet she still smirked afterwards. She probably grew accustomed to my attitude as I've assigned her to my team ever since I took over Lemieux Medical.
One thing that I demanded from my staff is to respect professionalism, Lindsey on the other hand is playful though she knows her boundaries.
"Just do as I say." I said as I entered my personal lift and pressed my hand for authorization.
I gaze back at her and mentally smirk with her anticipated look.
"Dating gawi." I finally said her favourite tagalog words that she taught me. I caught her beamed as the door closed.
"Thank you sa pa dinner Doc Laur!"
I shook my head. Rewarding my staff with free lunch or dinner every successful operation is a constant thing that I do for them which by far became a habit since I never had a dead body on my operating table. Some surgery can take five to seven hours so I make sure to take care of my staff.
I reached my office and headed straight to the shower room for a quick rinse. Once done, I reviewed some proposals. I sighed as I looked at the pile of patients folder at the side of my table.
This has been my life for the past three years.
Despite me juggling my time between work and the University, I still have a long list of patients. I had to study their cases before I endorse the others to my neurosurgeons who can handle such special cases too, and the meticulous ones that need my sole attention will have to be included in my lineup.
I didn't notice that it was already wee hours if I didn't yawn. I decided to call it a day, took some paperwork that needed my signature, and headed out.
I let out an exhausted sigh and only nodded to my driver as he opened the door of my limo. I honestly don't drive after a six-hour operation.
I opened my eyes once we reached my mansion. I didn't wait for my driver to open the door for me and went out of the limo instead as all I wanna do was to just rest my poor eyes and body.
It's also not good that I took a shower just after my operation. I'm a freaking doctor but sometimes I do the things that I advise my patients shouldn't do.
Tsk, bad habits.
"Lights Open," my mansion is being operated under my voice command and of course, it has a gold card that is only accessible by my cousin and my second-in-command butler. I prefer to live alone that's why I don't have any stay in maids. They left after they cleaned. I only have one person that I can tolerate in my life.
I've been living alone for three years now, going four actually.
I removed my clothes and just left my sports bra and boxers on, as pictures of recent events came flooding my mind.
It was a graduation present actually, my family planned a cruise ship as a gift nor a celebration since I just finished med school and graduated with flying colours. I graduated high school at 11 and conquered the medical field in my first college course. At the same time, my cousin Luriel Eloise finished high school.
