Inside a hospital in Seattle, Washington, Beth is giving birth to her second child while Jerry watches from a window with a baby Summer in his arms.

"You can do it, Mrs. Smith. Push," the doctor said as Beth grunted, pushing one last time before a baby's cry was heard throughout the room.

"Congratulations, Mrs. Smith, it's a boy," the doctor said, handing Beth a baby wrapped in a blanket. Beth took it and saw the little tuft of blue hair on the baby's head, making her smile as she cried happy tears.

Jerry joined her as he smiled at the baby. Suddenly, a green portal opened in the room, and Rick Sanchez, Beth's father, stepped through.

"Heeeeeyy! Let's see my new grandkid," he said in excitement as he pushed Jerry out of the way and looked down at the kid, shocked at what he saw.

Rick had never seen one of him before, which was almost impossible since he's traveled the dimensional highway. But there he was, his second grandson, not a Morty, but a Nathan.

~16 years later~

Morty is sitting at the Smith dinner table for breakfast with his Grandpa Rick, Summer, his mom Beth, and his father, Jerry. Morty is tired, evidenced by the dark circles under his eyes.

"I see there's a new episode of that singing show tonight," Jerry comments while looking at his tablet. "Who do you guys think is gonna be the best singer?" Jerry asks before Morty's face falls in his breakfast.

"Oh, my god. His head is in his food. I'm going to puke," Summer says in a stereotypical teen girl voice, obvious that she doesn't care.

"Wow, Summer, way to state the obvious," a voice said, walking into the room as Jerry looked to see his eldest son Nathan.

Nathan shared many similarities with Rick, but his hair was darker, more vibrant blue, and fuller, not having a bald spot, and was slicked back. Nathan had a more triangular-shaped jaw and wore a long sleeve black shirt, jeans, and a hoodless grey jacket which he left open as he carried a coffee mug in his hand. Nathan was slightly shorter than Rick, so he was the second tallest in the family standing at 6'2".

Nathan then sat down at the table across from Rick as he began to eat his food, ignoring what was happening with his brother

Nathan then sat down at the table across from Rick as he began to eat his food, ignoring what was happening with his brother.

"Morty, are you getting sick? I told you not to practice-kiss the living-room pillow. The dog sleeps on it," Beth said as Morty picked his head up from his plate and wiped off the food stuck to his face.

"I wasn't kissing a pillow, mom. I just didn't get a lot of sleep last night. Maybe my dreams were just too loud or something," Morty says, making up a bullshit excuse.

"Or maybe you were out all night again with grandpa Rick," Summer stated proudly.

"What!" Jerry said angrily as he narrowed his eyes at Rick.
