[Xiao's pov]

As the morning sun rose and shone through the windows the young florist needed to get up to get to work at his flower shop.
The alarm beeped loudly as the florist opened his eyes.
"Ughh, is it morning already ?" he complained.
Xiao got up and yawned.
He then put on his clothes, packed his food, and headed off toward the town.
The streets weren't that busy yet as it was still early in the morning but multiple shop owners were already preparing for today.
You see, today was the annual market, it only took place once a year and thus is very special.
Xiao was rather lucky with the placement of his flower shop, it was placed right in the centrum of where the market took place.
The only thing he had to do now was place a little tent out of his shop and display some flowers there so people would come and buy some.
And so he did.
After all that work he was finally ready to open up his shop.

After a few hours, the streets were already bustling with people.
As usual, the market was a big and busy place full of laughter and fun.
Although not everyone was happy.
Xiao wasn't as happy as them, he wished he could be but he was missing something... or someone.
After his father had passed away he was all alone, the only thing he had left was this little flower shop that his father used to run.
In the past, his father would often take him to this place and tell him about all kinds of flowers and their meaning.
But now he's all alone, like a butterfly weed.
As he was spacing out he didn't notice that a suspicious boy had silently stepped inside his shop and was slowly making his way toward him.

"Hello ?" The boy said.
Xiao suddenly jolted up, realizing he had been spacing out he quickly apologized.
The boy laughed.
"It's nothing, anyways I was looking for a certain kind of flower."
"Of course, I got all kinds of flowers. Do you perhaps have one in mind ?"
"No, not really... Oh, do you have any recommendations ?"
"Uhmm..." Xiao pondered for a moment.
"Well, I really like the butterfly weed."
"Oh, I know that one, but uh... Doesn't it symbolize loneliness ?" The boy asked him.
"..." Xiao stood there, silent.
"Ah, sorry... I didn't mean to make you feel sad or anything."
"No, it's nothing. I was just thinking."
"How about I go look in the back for some special flowers ?"
"Sure, I'm intrigued to see which one you'll pick !"
And with that Xiao went through a door behind the counter.

The boy started looking around to see if anybody was watching.
When he saw that no one was watching he stepped behind the counter and started looking through its drawers and cash register.
He picked out a large sum of money, but then he heard footsteps behind the door.
He swiftly stood up and started running.
As Xiao opened his door with flowers in his hands, he looked around only to see that his drawers and cash register were open and empty.
He realized that the boy had stolen his money.
As the flowers in his hands fell to the ground, Xiao quickly ran out of his shop and frantically looked around in hopes of finding the thief.
There were so many people at the annual market, it was tough to search for him.
Luckily for Xiao tho, he spotted the little thief.
"Stop right there, thief !" he shouted.
The boy immediately looked at him and started running.
"Wait !" Xiao yelled as he then started after him.

The boy ran quite fast, it was very hard for Xiao to keep up with him.
The boy then ran into an alley and Xiao followed.
He then came to a halt as the alley had a dead end.
The boy turned around, looking scared at Xiao.
Xiao stopped running and slowly walked towards him.
As Xiao walked closer and closer the boy stepped further backward until he touched the wall.
Xiao grabbed his hands and pinned them against the wall.
The boy could feel Xiao's warm breath against his face.
"Where is the money ?" Xiao asked.
The boy closed his eyes, yet he didn't answer.
"Answer me." Xiao demanded.
Suddenly a bark could be heard.
Xiao looked down at his feet, there stood a wolf.
It still was a little pup but wolves were dangerous creatures, even as a pup.
The wolf started barking again, but then it gritted its teeth and started bending its legs.
"Andrius don't- !" the boy shouted, but before he could finish his sentence the wolf pup lunged at Xiao and bit him deep in his leg.
Xiao immediately let out a wince of pain and let go of the boy's hands.

The boy ran past Xiao as he fell to his knees, looking at the wound that was now bleeding heavily.
This was his chance to escape, yet he couldn't.
Something was holding him back.
The wolf let out a questioning sound as the boy made up his mind.
He sighed as he then turned around and walked towards Xiao, kneeling down beside him.
He looked down to where the wound was.
"That looks deep..." he said.
"...And painful." Xiao filled in.
The boy searched through his pockets and took out a bandage.
"Here, let me bandage it..."
"Why would you, you clearly wanted to leave me here earlier..."
"Fine. Then I'll leave. Good luck bandaging it up !" the boy pouted.
"No, wait ! Just... please help..." Xiao said.
The boy sat next to him as he carefully bandaged Xiao's wound;
"I'm... sorry for stealing your money."
"Sure..." Xiao answered, clearly doubting that statement.
"I truly am !! If I had known this would happen I wouldn't have done it !"
"I may be a thief but I'm not a heartless monster."
"..."
"Why..." Xiao said.
"Huh ?"
"Why do you steal...?"
"There are so many other ways to get money, so why ?"
The boy thought for a moment.
"I'm just... 'never fit for the job'..."
"That's what they always tell me..."
"I tried and tried so hard, yet nobody would accept me."
The boy had finished bandaging Xiao's leg.
"...I'm sorry to hear that."
"It's not your fault, so don't feel sorry."

There was a long silence between them.
"So uhhh... are you able to stand up and walk ?"
"I can try."
Xiao pulled himself up but just when he stood on his feet he fell forward.
Luckily the boy caught him in his arms.
"That's a clear no."
"I'll help you walk home then, as a sorry for that wound that I caused." Venti said, clearly concerned.
"Alright, thanks..." Xiao said in a pained voice.

The boy put Xiao's arm over his shoulder and started walking.
"C'mon Andrius"
The wolf looked confused at the boy but he then followed anyways.
"So uhm... How's business going ?" The boy said awkwardly.
"It's doing fine, I can get what I need most so that's all I need."
"You don't crave for more ? Like having a mansion or a big and expensive collection of some sort ?" The boy asked with curiosity.
"No, I don't need to be rich to be happy... I just want a cozy little house, my flower shop and..."
"..."
"And what ?"
"... and someone to share it with."
"Ah, I see... So that's why you like the butterfly weed so much huh..."
"Yeah, I've been on my own for a while now."
Finally they arrived at the flower shop.
The boy helped Xiao get inside and put him on a wooden bench inside of the flower shop.
"I- Thank you." Xiao said.
"Why ? I literally robbed you and then harmed you."
"Well, you could've just run away after your dog-"
"Wolf."
"Sorry, wolf bit me. Yet you stayed, bandaged my wound and helped me return home."
"Normal thieves wouldn't do that."
"Are you saying... that I'm special ?" The boy chuckled.
"That's not what I meant, I-" Xiao started blushing.
"I know what you meant, I'm just teasing you~"
"You're a little demon." Xiao pouted.
"A cute demon, for your information." The boy added.

"..."
"I'll leave now..."
The boy reluctantly stood up.
"Bye, it was nice meeting you."
He started turning around.
"Wait !" Xiao grabbed his arm.
The boy turned back and looked Xiao right in the eyes.
"Uhm, I..." Xiao cleared his throat.
"We could uhm, hang out some time y'know..."
"Like walking in the park or, uhh drinking some coffee in a café ?"
The boy started blushing slightly.
He then tilted his head and smiled, this time not a teasing smile but a genuine one.
"Sure, why not !"
Xiao looked surprised at him.
"I'll get going now, I still have some stuff to do."
"Wait-" Xiao started.
"If you want your money back look in your pocket."
"No that's not what I-"
"Wait, you gave it back ?"
"As I said, I'm not heartless."
"Thanks, but I wasn't gonna ask that."
"Then..."
"I never got your name."
"Oh, right... I'm so forgetful"
"The name's Venti, anyways it was nice meeting you but I'll have to leave now."
And with that Venti ran out of the flower shop, leaving Xiao with a smile on his face.
