it was the first day back, back to michael's school he'd been attending for the past 3 years. this school is where he met his bestfriends, luke, sky, and cassie. they were the only people that didn't tease him (well they did but out of love), hurt him, laugh at him, or just generally be a b itch to him. because he couldn't see, everyone thought it was fun to trip him up, or throw things at him, or take his stuff, or do anything that would make him agitated.

michael was a blind guy who thought because he couldn't see what he looked like, it didn't matter what his appearance was, had an immaculate memory, smokes like a chimney, has the imagination of a 6 year old and gets A*'s in every subject.

luke was a tall blonde kid with a few too many piercings, a wardrobe made for a member of a satanic goth cult, a personality of a door and a smirk that could kill anyone who looked too long.

sky was a depressed dude who got taken the p iss out of because 'his name was for girls, not guys', had a music taste of an over-emotional 12-year old girl going through 'the emo phase', was still a virgin at 18, wouldn't talk about anything except boobs and food and carried a knife everywhere.

cassie was a bright little short dork who had never been friends with 'the girls', had an insane lisp meaning she could only pronounce about 3 words, has an obsession with clouds and can't be concentrated for more than 2 seconds.

and with that, their squad was complete.

----

michael woke up at 6:37am, then actually leaving his luxurious double bed at 7:04am to go get breakfast. he pondered down the stairs, his hands never leaving the walls or cabinets, to then make his way sleepily to the kitchen. he found the bread and decided to place two slices in the toaster. after he'd buttered them, he took his plate of food to his bedroom and ate while putting on his music.

by the time he was ready, he was wearing a pair of grey jeans, some old band tee, a baggy jean jacket, matt black docs and a fair share of random jewellery (no not pink friendship bracelets, like idk guy jewellery). he grabbed his black tatty backpack and waltz downstairs once again by 7:53am.

"hey mum." michael stated enthusiastically. she continued to eat her toast and ignore the poor boy, awaiting an answer he won't receive.

"your mum went out again last night, she's a bit sleepy." his mothers boyfriend, chris, spoke up instead of his mother. chris had been in michael's life since he was 3, his mother and chris never got married but had been together for 15 years and had a child after 3 and a half years of being officially together.

"o-okay." michael stuttered due to his astonishment, its been 5 weeks with this same pattern, michaels mum would be happy and sweet at the weekends but once it hit monday she would be totally off and go out every night to leave chris alone.

he lowly walked towards the door and fumbled with the keys to unlock the door, once he had opened it a huge gust of wind hit his cheeks and instantly turned them a bright pink, showing highly due to his normally pale complexion. he walked out the door and left a small "goodbye" to his parents, only to regret waking up this morning as millions of tiny rain droplets fell to the ground and hit him in a rhythmic pattern. he gazed up to the sky and watches the rain fall to the earth like the universe was reminding him how crap today would be. see, since michael didn't believe in god, he believed in destiny and the universe and how everyone has a purpose. he had nothing else to believe in so he decided to turn to the beliefs he had for the therapeutic effect it gave him, as well as the fact that he enjoyed thinking in this manner as he could be himself and live within his thoughts for a short while.

as he arrived after the 2 minute walk to the bus shelter, he gave a small nod to other few people whom he couldn't remember the names of who were sharing the  bus shelter with him. they waited another 5 minutes in pure awkward silence as everyone there texted away and michael stood there listening out for the wheels of the bus to come to contact with the nearby pavement and allow him to make his journey to school.

he took his seat, alone, and waited for the doors to close. a boy on the bus who usually sat behind michael, named olly, would tap his shoulder as they arrived at school and has done this for the past year and a half for no particular reason. as michael put his headphones in, as small melody met his eardrums and brought a smile on his ice cold face. naval by yann tiersen played softly in his ears and caused his thoughts to explore as normal.

*skips the rest of the bus etc and to lunch*

luke was the last one to be seated at the dining table of the lunch hall as the rest of his friends conversed about how, if one colour didn't exist, what would happen. lukes expression went from cheery to highly confused within a matter of seconds.

"but, the thing is, if we didn't have the colour red, would we have purple or orange or pink or what?" cassie started to freak herself out as she imagines all the possible outcomes of red not existing.

"may i remind you all, i don't know any of these colours or what they look like." michael butted in to their discussion after taking a bite of his apple.

"but still, its stressing me out guys." cassie continued to stress as she took a sip of her water and chewed on her headphone wire.

"so, michael, how was music class on this fine a ss day?" luke snickered, knowing michael hated music because he had no one in his class who he liked.

"actually, pretty interesting to be fair." he chuckled lightly.

"and whys that then, clifford?" luke frowned.

"there's a new girl."
