Ugh. I thought to myself. This is boring! Nightshifts are boring.I had to take up this job, Because the job i worked at before just wasn't for me. And it was cheap. Only $100 a week!
But this job isn't any better.
I sat down at my desk, pulling at lose strands of my hair.
Why does a museum need security, anyway? Not like anyone's gonna rob the place, or run around naked in the halls.*Ring, Ring, Ring*
Oh fantastic.
I picked up the phone.
"Hello?"
"Hey man! I take it you're the noobie, huh?" The person on the other side of the phone said, very energetic.
"Yeah I'm the... Uhh... 'noobie'. This is my second day here. Who are you, exactly?" I asked as I heard a defeated sigh on the other end.
"Oh god dammit! Was the guy who called last night named Scott?!" He said with a now angry tone, ignoring my question.
"Uhhh, Yeah. It was."
There was a long pause.
"Mierda."
"What?"
"Nothing, Anyway. So looking through the files, I see your name is... Kevin? Nice."
"...yes?" I said, as he chuckled.
"Oh come on, man. Lighten up a little!" He said brightly.
"*Sigh* Okay, Tell me what i need to do. The other guy confused me."
"Alright, So! Do you have the app that links the cameras to your phone?" He asked.
"Yes, i do."
"Good, because you'll need it today! You did a good job last night, so we're letting you monitor the place! Aka walking around the restaurant."
"What?! Shouldn't that come when I'm more experienced?!" I said in surprise, As he paused for a moment.
"Yesn't, you see Kevin, there's Only two security guards for this area of the place, me and you." He confirmed.
"Wait... There's more areas?"
"Yup! There is! You didn't know that?" He chuckled, as i hesitated to answer.
"Y-yeah, welllll...."
"Haha! No need to be so flustered, Dude! I just asked because lots of people know."
I looked down in shame.
"Anyway, Look at the cameras, and check camera 3!"
"Why?"
"Because, you'll see."
I did what he told me to do, looked at camera three. There I saw a darker skinned man, wearing the same uniform as me, waving up at the camera. He seemed to be holding a phone at his ear.
"You looking?" He asked, as i saw the man speak while he asked.
"Yeah... Is that you?" I asked curiously.
"Yep! That's me!" He beamed as I looked closer.
"So... Now what?" I asked.
"Okay, You need to meet me here, i don't know why, but Vince told me that call won't do, it'd just distract. Or something." He said, just as confused as me.
"Okay, um... I'll be there." I said as I watched him smile through the camera.
"Fantástico! See you when you get here!" He said cheerfully.
*Beep*
...
He seems fun.
