Helena's POV
"Helena Wayne, it's nice for you to finally join the class." The teacher said, as she shot a disapprovingly glance at me.
I take a sit at my usual sitting, avoiding any eye contacts. Yes, I'm always late and Yes, I always turn up with cuts and bruises, but I try to hide them. I mean, that's not a few powder and foundation couldn't fix.
"Helena Wayne, please report to the principal's office." crackled the speaker.
The teacher glared at me, then sighed.
"Trouble in paradise, have you?""Of course Miss, always missing classes. I wonder what she does all day?" Tutted Amy, the school bully.
I looked away and scurried to the principals office.
I turn the door handle and walk in to see Mum,Dad and the principal all staring at me.
"What?" I shrugged. "You wanted me here."
Mum rolled her eyes, she was always like that. I mean, imagine Catwoman back in the days. Ugh! I would not like to think of that.
Mum turned back to look at the principal. "I'm so sorry Principal Keith but some really close friends family member just died, and we would all like to see him. You know... before he leaves us."
They were terrible at lying.
"I understand Mrs Wayne, but this is unacceptable for Helena to be leaving school every 5 seconds." said Mr Keith.
They bought that? I mean the guy just died?! He already left.
I agree. I mean.. don't take it the wrong way, I love being all mysterious and stuff, but sometimes a superhero needs to rest and have a normal life for a second... well, for more than 5 seconds.
I had nothing to say, so I nod continuously at everything Mr Keith said. He IS the principal so he had the right to remain silent.
After several minutes of arguing, Dad finally gave up and made him an offer.
"Ok Mr Keith, how much do we have to donate, for you to let us have Helena for the whole semester every time we need her?"
I hate how they do that, I mean, money can't buy happiness, they can't even pay me to be happy about my life right now!!!
"Let's say about $6600 for the whole semester, we do need to renovate and add more books into our library."
"Deal"
Dad and Mr Keith both shake hands and Dad hands him the money in cash.
"Pleasure doing business with you Mr Keith ." Mum yells from the hallway.
We walk out into the carpark and hop into our Lincoln Futura a.k.a The Batmobile.
Dad drove us home and we arrived in a flash. I race downstairs to Basement number 3 a.k.a The Hunt Cave. We have three basements for Batman, Catwoman and The Huntress.
Everything in the Hunt Cave, from the roof to the floor is purple. Dark Purple. Even my suits, masks, guns, bows and other weapons . You name it, we had it. I mean black was so in Mum and Dad's days.
I get dress in my suit, put on my mask and clicked the computer screen, to see who the next victim was.
"Gary Martinez. Broken in at Gotham City Banks and stole all the money in the vault. Suddenly disappeared and nowhere in sight." The machine said.
I scanned his face in the computer and had a look at the video of him. He was walking along the street, gun in one hand and a bag full of cash in the other. the screen crackled then I watch him suddenly disappearing, this taken by the street cameras.
I press the button on my left and the garage door opened revealing my dark purple MV Agusta F4CC, I snatched my crossbow and rode out without saying goodbye.
First stop... the Gotham Bank.
I rode out to the city as everyone pointed at me saying my name; The Huntress.
I dodged through cars and the crowd of people when I finally arrive at my destination.
I hop out of my motorcycle and search for clues of where he could have been and made the policemen lock down the street.
I look around, scanning the windows and the vault for fingerprints and DNA.
Hours have gone by. The sun had now disappeared and it was already dark and cold.
I look around some more, so far I haven't found a single clue.
The street light crackled making loud noises which caused me to quickly turn around and shoot an arrow at the pole. I run towards the pole, sparks of electricity come flying at me, making me step back and cover myself.
I slowly straiten up to see that a note was attached to it. I snatch the paper off and rub my eyes so I could see better, it was a blur then it turned clear.
Dear Ms Huntress,
I will give you back Gary Martinez safely, he will be at his home and he will forget of what he did and what just happened and in return I expect you to look at this letter carefully and solve this riddle. If you do, you'll find out who we're going after next.
"What is the beginning of eternity, the end of time and space, the beginning of every end and the end to every race?"
I look at the riddle reading it out loud and trying to figure it out, when I heard a rustling sound from behind me.
I quietly walk over to the bush with my crossbow out, pointing at it.
"Hello?" I whisper.
The figure stood up slowly, but it already had moved back, further away from me and all I could see in the dark was it's silhouette.
"E." He said in a low voice.
"What?!"
"The answer is E."
" And who the hell are you?!" I ask in fury.
He glared at me, then ran away.Fast.
I ran back to my motorcycle and chased after him. I swerved in between the poles and the trees and jump over the bushes. I stop on the middle of the road and look around, I saw no sign of where he could be. I'd lost him. I heard the sound of soft metal and looked at the ground to see a silver arrowhead, encrypted "Arsenal"
I take the arrowhead home and throw it on the desk. I take a quick shower and have some dinner, Mum and Dad were already asleep. I place myself in front of my computer and search up 'Arsenal ' on Google.
Arsenal:
A collection of weapons and military equipments.
'Arsenal' I repeat, over and over again.
What the hell does this mean?
I turn off my computer and fall back onto my bed, as my mind filled with questions about this fugitive. I needed to find out who captured Gary. And I needed to find out who he's after next.
This could be the biggest mission yet.
