It was 7:30am when Kalani woke up for school,

"shit, I woke up late" she curses to herself. Kalani would usually wake up early so she didn't have to see her dead beat of a mother in the mornings.

When Kalani was dressed and ready to leave she went to the front door, " aren't you going to have breakfast before you go?" She heard at the kitchen table, she turns around to see her mother.

"uh I'm not hungry, I'm late for school anyways so, I'm staying back later after school, I'm gong to the library" She lied, about all of it. In fact Kalani was starving, she just didn't want to have to spend anymore time with her excuse of a mother, she knew she wouldn't have anything to eat for the whole day since she spent all her money on cigarettes.

"Hm, yeah well Richard is coming over later so I'll be busy so take as long as you need in the library" Jules said not even glancing up to her daughter, too focused on texting Richard.

Kalani rolls her eyes. Typical, she ignores the situation before heading to school.

"Hey, look who finally decided to show up!" Kalani hears from behind her.

she turns around "Hey Evie" Kalani walks over to her best friend and gives her a hug. as the brunette returns it.

"where have you been! I missed you" Evie asked, separating from the dirty blonde.

"I got grounded, you know how harsh my mom is" Kalani shrugs off.

Evie gives her best friend a weak smile and they walk together their friends.

"Look over there, its Kalani Miller and Evie Zamora, looks like they grew up over the summer"Someone said as the girls waked by, arms linked

Boys crowded up to get a look at the girls.

But the one person that caught Kalani's eye was a blonde, blue eyed boy.

At lunch Kalani and Evie where sat at a lunch table with a group of friends.

"Evie Zamora has really pretty skin"

"Yeah and Kalani Millers hair is just so perfect"

Kalani heard from the table beside them, she turned her head to see three nice girls sitting at a table talking.

Kalani turned back around to her friends when one of the girls from the other table walked by, "nice socks" One of Kalani's friends said, she knew she was just making fun of her so while her and her friends were walking away she through the blonde girl a sweet, weak smile.

Kalani didn't like making fun of people, especially people who did nothing wrong to deserve it.

The next day at lunch the girls were sitting at their regular lunch table again.

"hey Kal, come with me to the bathroom real quick." Evie asked, grabbing her best friends hand away from the lunch table.

while the girls were walking to the bathroom, Kalani could feel a presents behind them.
