Chapter 11: Awakening

As the sun paints the land of the coven, Caleb, along with Mikki, Gelo and Calix are waiting for the others. As Archer, his parents, Agnes, Chase, Han, and Minho arrived at the lounge, the quad stood up, greeting them.

Caleb noticed a book, with gold edges and golden glitter shivers on the pages, held by Agnes. The former head witch gave her son a nod and took a step. Calix received the book and looked at the red-haired warlock.

"Caleb." Calix started his speech, making the other people divert their own conversation to the two. "As the Head Warlock of the Abyss Coven, I hereby transfer the care of the Ivaldi, the Book of Light, to you, Caleb Austin, the Crimson Warlock."

Caleb looked at Calix and then at Agnes, smiling as he looked at the book being handed to him. He extended his hand and touched the end of the book, the power held by the tome surged from both warlocks.

"I, Caleb Austin, will take good care and use Ivaldi to protect our nation." As he finished his sentence, 3 lights were swirling around Caleb, red, purple, and gold. The others shielded their eyes as the lights became brighter. As the lights faded, the book was nowhere to be seen.

"Where is the book?" Chase asked as he knew everyone saw that Calix handed the book.

"It's mixed with my magic." Caleb raised his hand, showing a three-colored tattoo on his right wrist.

"Now... Caleb, you need to reach the Deity Tower within 2 months. That way you can cast the shield that died down 23 years ago."

"I heard that tower was used to kill our kind." Minho spoke and received glares from the warlocks.

"It is not. It is more like the sign of the awakening of the Deity." Mikki said as he then looked at Caleb.

"We will be leaving then." Caleb stated

"Me and Archer will join. His parents allowed him." Calix replied

"But your coven?"

"Is safe with my mom taking charge. Helping you is what we want, to give peace to the lands."

"That way, we can end this war that our ancestors had started." Chase butted in as he locked his silver eyes on Caleb's red orbs.

Caleb gave him a humble smile and looked at the adults. "We will be going now then, I'll see you soon."

"Stay safe. Take care of our spawn Calix!" Draco called out when he received a smack from Harry.

After a few hours, the group reached a clearing. Archer was about to go down but stopped when Caleb raised his hand and spoke.

"Do not." He then looked at Chase with a knowing look.

"We are in the centaur plateau."

"No. We are on the border of the Centaur Plateau and Tauren's Den." Calix elaborated

Gelo and Mikki gasped and looked at Calix who just stood beside Archer.

"Much worse than being in one." Minho cussed as he crouched down

"We need to run at midnight, being in broad daylight with these creatures is giving yourself to death itself." Han added.

"Can we just run now? There are no taurens nor centaurs present." Archer argued.

"Centaurs and Taurens are far different from what you have in the UK. They can feel you upon stepping into their lands. Taurens can be friendly, but they despise shifters and other magic creatures. They have their own magicians called Spirit Callers. They are pretty much Necromancers but slightly good and don't use undead beings. Their domain becomes neutral at midnight and we have 3 hours to run before they feel us." Mikki explained and looked at Gelo.

"After that, we need to find Lady Vashj." Caleb spoke. "She can help us to travel the sea."

"You mean we will speak to serpents?" Chase asked. "I refuse to speak to sly beings."

"You don't even know their language. In the UK it is called parseltongue. Here, it is just called a snake's tongue."

"I'll take it that you know it." Archer asked.

"I do. Being stuck in a library is beneficial."

"It's just 11 in the morning, we have 13 hours left before we can run." Calix then looked around. "How about we just fish and find some food? And maybe set up a camp." Calix then eyed the other couple and his lover to help him.

"Right! That sounds nice, me and Minho will hunt some rabbits." Han grabbed his mate and ran away.

"Me and Gelo will get some fruits. Let's go, my love." Mikki grabbed his lover and starts to wander off

"Me and Archer will fish. You two can set up the camp. See you later!" Calix dragged him immediately and went to the nearby river.

All that is left is the awkward silence between the two. Chase finally has the guts to talk.

"So... What are your plans? After you cast the shield?"

"Dunno... Maybe discipline the shifter packs who abuse their power and ability to outwit and destroy my kind."

"I-I just don't understand something."

"Spill."

"Why did you crash my party?"

"I want to give you a scare, that's all."

"I see... Why though?"

"So that you guys can feel the terror I felt when I was helpless when I watched-"

"You watched... what?"

"I-It's nothing." Caleb looked the other way and kept on setting up the tent they will use.

Chase then grabbed him by his wrist and pinned him to a tree.

"I am your mate. Tell me. I want to help you and heal you from your wounds."

"I may be your mate, but I have not accepted it yet- So do not force me to do something!"

"Tell me or I'll kiss you, your choice" Chase spoke slowly which sent shivers to Caleb.

He sighed and looked at Chase.

"Fine. I watched Camilo, my lover-" the word 'lover' made Chase growl in jealousy. "- die in front of me. I hated how I felt helpless at that point and promised that someday I will make the shifters feel the same."

Chase released him from his grip and walked away by a few meters. "I'm sorry." It is audible enough for Caleb to hear.

"It's fine. I released all my anger that day, that's fun to me."

"To you. It became a nightmare to me."

"And what will you do about it? Kiss me?"

"Is that a challenge?"

"Oh yes, it is."

As soon as those words came out of Caleb's mouth he was pinned back on a tree and saw Chase's eyes sparkling.

"There is no going back." Chase warned him and sealed their lips for a kiss.

Caleb then started to kiss back and wrapped it around Chase's torso. Once they break the kiss for air, what Caleb said stunned Chase.

"I, Caleb Austin, accept our bond as mates."
