Find it

We came to the opening of a green field about an hour and a half outside of our town. I looked at the emptiness in front of me and gasped. There were two dark figures that had appeared out of the air they were holding a flag that was encrusted with black dots and red stripes. This must be the portal.

We stopped at the gold fence a couple hundred metres away from the men.

My mum looked at me and smiled "You'll be fine darling, excited?"She asked.

I nodded my head. "I sure am mum"I looked behind me and saw that Chloe and her children were so excited and eager.

We hopped out the car together and started walking towards them. In a flash we were standing by their side. I was so small compared to them, they towered over my mother who was at least 6 feet.

They had no emotion. They were what our people called "Seekers" the ones who lived in between worlds, they would travel far from this planet to protect it. I once read in a history book that there was a seeker once upon a time eradicated an emotion out of existence just so we could thrive and be happy. I looked at them smiling, no words.

They beckoned to the invisible doorway infront of us and we lined up silently, one by one.

My mum went first, her figure disappearing through the invisible door. I was next.

I pushed forward knowing my mum was waiting for me on the other side. The last thing I heard was a terrifying scream. All of a sudden the coolness from the breeze turned into freezing ice. I'd never felt such a sensation before. I screamed.

My heart beat fast and I couldn't open my eyes. My body felt so weak and tired. My arms felt like they had lifted a car. I peered my eyes open and found big blue eyes staring back at me. Eyes I'd never seen before

"Euno, you made it back!" The voice exclaimed. I sat up slowly, unable to recognise my surroundings. Where was I? Where was my mother? Where was Chloe and the kids? Something unfamiliar grew inside of me.

"Who are you?" I asked politely smiling. He shook his head. "No, No you don't remember do you? You don't remember me?" He asked sadly. I shook my head. "Did my portal accidentally take me here?" I asked. He shook his head again and hung his head in his hands. He was crying. "Oh no, please don't cry!" I exclaimed crawling over to him. I put my hand on his leg and he cried harder. I pulled back and looked around. This place was dark. There was no sun, No moon. We were in a little cabin that looked just like the one in my old room. Except everything of mine was broken, worn out and old. I stood up towards the door and opened it. It was an actual beach. I have never been to an actual beach before. Australia is the only place you can find them. Which means that my portal just misdirected me to another place in the country... right?

I turned around and saw the boy who stood before me. He was tall and solid, his black hair was long tied up by a little string. His clothes were old and tattered and his feet were exposed. He looked about 19 years of age. I looked at him smiling. "You feeling better?" I asked. He looked at me shaking his head.

"What the fuck is wrong with you Euno?" He asked. I gasped. That was a forbidden word. Here this stranger was saying it so loudly, so proudly. I put my hand over my mouth. "You can't say the F word" I whispered in Disbelief then started laughing. "Okay this is a good joke" I said. He shook his head again looking at me. I was so confused as to what he was doing or feeling. I'd never seen it before. In an instant his hands were on my face and he was talking to me in a language I didn't understand. I shook my head "I'm sorry I don't understand you" I whispered.

What was going on? who was this man and where is my mother

The unfamiliar feeling washed over me again I stood back from his grasp and laughed. "I'm sorry you must have me confuse for someone else or something, can I help you in anyway? Do you need credits? I can source you some?" I offered. He shook his head. "Will you come with me Euno? You need to come and remember who you are, this isn't you Euno" He whispered holding out a hand. Apart of me wanted to turn and run, but the other part of me was so trusting.

I took his hand and he led me outside the cabin and towards the beach. My body shrivelled in the darkness. where I lived it always shined, Everything was beautiful, shiny, here it was the complete opposite. Even the water was dark.

"I'm Etir" He whispered, leading me into the darkness. "Don't worry Euno, I've got you, you're safe with me- we're together now, we can find it"

For some reason I believed him.
