"Josh? Are you even listening?" I snapped out of my trance when my name was called, looking around confused. "Uh, yeah" I replied, lying. "Good. I can't wait for-" His words were cut off my footsteps thumping against the carpeted stairs, making their way down to where Zack and I were. "Hold on." Zack said, holding up his index finger indicating that I should stay put. "Tyler! What the fuck, I told you not to come downstairs until you knew my friend was gone." I heard Zack whisper-shout in a stern, scary voice. "I-I'm sorry, I forgo-" before the mystery man could reply there was a loud smacking noise, oh dear god. "Fucking go up to your room, now." Zack said, ignoring the fact that he knew I might be able to hear better now.

Once Zack had come back, he sat down and continued, acting as if none of that had ever happened. I still didn't pay attention, even more so now. Who was Tyler? Was he a friend? A boyfriend? A sibling? A cousin? Just some random person Zack had met on the street and had let stay here because he had no where else to go? I don't think it was the last one, definitely. But who knows? "Hey Zack?" I asked, breaking the silence I hadn't known occured until recently. "Hmm?" He replied, staring off into space. "You have football practice tomorrow" My words came out as more of a question than a statement. "Mmhmm." Was all he replied with. Maybe I can come over tomorrow and meet this said Tyler. "Cool.. Well, I better get going now. Don't wanna be late." I got up and grabbed my bookbag and all Zack did was wave, not even looking at me.

As I walked home, I thanked god that it was Friday, I didn't have school tomorrow. But for the rest of the night, Tyler was stuck on my mind.
