(Idea was made by my brother for his own joke continuity, but I used it because it's actually a decent idea)
Boaters are the boat version of seekers essentially. They tend to be taller and more well-built than the average mech with an aquatic alt mode. They all just have boat alt modes and none of them have any other form of aquatic alt modes.
Even though they're called Boaters they can technically fly in the air because screw gravity.
They also tend to be diverse with the kibble and where it can be implied they turn into a boat at.
