A man breathed heavily, running through a forest. Brush snapped back after the distressed man passed. Sticks cracked under his feet as he stumbled into a clearing. The man panted as he observed his surroundings. An abnormal chirp echoed through the forest, but no calls replied.
The man began to climb up the trunk of a younger tree. His grip was faint in accordance with his bloody hands. He grunted as he pulled himself up onto the first branch he could reach. The man climbed out on the branch, which hung over a steep slope.
The predator would certainly not get him here. The prey jerked his head as a large bird emerged from the forest. The creature had the distinct features of a bird, being feathers, but it had a lizard like appearance. The creature stared blankly, but menacingly as the 5 foot beast sniffed the air. It's head jerked violently as it smelled the scent of Prey.
Prey sat on his branch, somewhat smug, knowing he was safe. The predator sniffed the trunk of the hiding tree, it's feathers blowing in the wind. Lizard eyes turned to Prey. He felt paralyzing fear. The beast leapt towards the branch, but missed, tumbling down the steep slope, at least 20 feet down.
Prey smirked. He could just wait it out. The predator sped around to a less steep slope and raced back to the tree. Prey dare not breathe too loudly. The beast approached the bottom of the tree. It's talons clicked the bulging roots of the trunk. It once again sniffed the scent of it's prey on the trunk.

A claw jabbed into the trunk. The beast made a hideous clicking sound. Two more claws stabbed the tree. The beast used it's placement to heave itself up. It stabbed the tree with it's other three claws, now adjacent to the low branch. The feet of the beast fumbled as it looked for satisfactory footing.
Prey inched back as the predator's head now loomed over the branch. It was positioned like an insect, glued to it's vertical surface. The body inched to align with the branch. Claws scraped the branch. Prey moved back as the beast snarled, it's head inching closer to it's meal.
Prey began to sweat as the beast's snout inched closer as it rang out a clicking noise. The overhanging branch snapped under the weight and the prey slammed into the steep slope, the rolled down. He yelled in pain at his now dislocated shoulder.
Prey scrambled up as the beast tumbled down the slope. He grunted as he ran. He threw his shoulder against a tree, yelling in pain as the shoulder went back into place. A river appeared ahead, but he began to run faster when he heard the predator chirp ferociously. He jumped the river, but slipped on the landing, slamming face first into the grass.
He rolled over, grunting, now with a bleeding nose. The beast easily jumped over the river, but skid sideways into a tree, being knocked down. Prey took the opportunity and ran again. He heard what had to be the spinning blades of a helicopter. He stumbled to a large and empty field. His suspicions were correct. The helicopter began to slowly descend. Prey rejoiced in his newfound freedom.
The predator jumped from the tree line, mauling the prey. The prey let out no more cries, being only blood and a disfigured corpse. The helicopter fired at the savage beast. The natural predator screeched at the onslaught of bullets. It was then shot, falling to the ground.

"Why don't you take care of Subject O?" Larry suggested.
Jehn who seemed distraught by the offer. She began to argue with Larry, but faced away from him.
"No! Can't you get her?! Things have been awkward between us since..." She paused, turning to see Larry had already left, "Well... Damnit."
