Sonya woke up, and immediately felt a raging headache.
She couldn’t get up or sit up, her legs felt numb under this blanket.
She groans and adjusts her eyes to the bright room.
“I didn’t expect you to wake up so quickly Ms.Blade!” She heard an unrecognizable female voice.
She adjusts her sight, looking in front of her at a woman with white hair that was curly at the ends and dark brown eyes you could mistake for the color black.
Sonya looks annoyingly at the woman, not due to any of her doing, but the headache was still raging its parade.
“It worked!” She heard the lady mutter to herself so excitedly as she looks at a clipboard.
“Where am I?” Sonya mustered up, holding her hand to her forehead.
She saw scars all over her arm, but she wasn’t a dark pale teal color she was in her skin color before the death, a little tan peach color. She was relieved she wasn’t revenant but the scars concerned her.
“You are in Seido ma’am!” She spoke as she puts down the clipboard, pressing it down like she shouldn’t see what is on it.
“What?..” Sonya questioned, what the heck is Seido? Is that a city she doesn’t know?
“For you foreigner, that’s Orderrealm.” The white-haired lady sighs.
“How do you feel Ms.Blade?” The woman spoke, trying and terribly hiding her excitement in her tone.
“Shitty, a raging headache and… I can’t feel my legs.”
Sonya looks down at the blanket under her, it was like a thick hospital blanket.
“Oh that, I spent about 5 years putting you together piece by piece and a bit of power, It would have taken me about 3 more years trying to find some of your broken leg bones and muscle under rubble and they are probably gone by now. So… you are legless?” The lady shrugs lightly and awkwardly like she couldn’t know how to spread the news any better.
Sonya just stared at the woman in disbelief, what did she say?
She rips off the blanket from under her.
...
There were legs, but they were robotic and metallic, they weren't her legs. Her own legs were completely gone, and they ended at the edge of her hips like a barbie doll in a way.
She glares up at the woman.
“Listen, Ms.Blade, Seido- I mean Orderrealm would mostly execute me if they find me sneaking to the surface of Netherrealm to collect a woman's remains that are in pieces if I went sneaking out for more years.”
She walks around the room checking something.
“I think if they find out that I was reviving someone they would have my head too. They are strict like that.”
The white hair lady spoke as she checks Sonya’s robotic legs, making sure nothing was out of usual and ready for working and walking.
“Great, I've been revived to a realm I don’t even recognize and I am missing the main part of my body I use the most. I don’t even know who you are!”
Sonya sighed, she was probably her true punishment, at least in Netherrealm she had legs while enduring her thoughts, she remembers when she was in the tournament she would leg grab her opponents and throw them, can she even fight in these conditions?
“Sorry, I wasn’t expecting… this.”
“You are alright, and my name is Delaney. And I guess no one expects to be revived.”
Delaney felt a little bad for reviving now but she hopes it was all worth it later down the line.
“Here are these though, they are robotic legs I made for you in replacement of your usual legs.”
Sonya looks at the robotic legs, futuristic white all over them, then she glares back at Delaney.
“How do you know who I am? You seem far too excited for this.”
“The story of Mortal Kombat reaches throughout the realms, how many years ago, you and the others protected your realm and finally beat Shang Tsung’s tournament as the last of five generations. You were the only girl Earthrealmer I believe and I sorta heard of your passing through things.”
“Things?” Sonya was questioning why this girl was so invested in it, she came from Orderrealm, and yeah it was a realm or death situation but no one from ‘Orderrealm’ was there nor does this realm affect Earthrealm in any way. She decided to sigh and hope this girl was on the right side and not for anything that was against or dangers Earthrealm.
“Yes, things. Anyway! Why don’t you test your new legs?” Delaney requested, not going into details on what the thing is.
“...Fine. I will test them. Beats getting bed sores.” She grumbles before trying to get up.
It was a breeze getting up.
Isn’t the metal suppose to be heavy? She got up, either it was muscle memory or something but she got up fine like her legs were just in tin foil. Except these are her new legs and her real organic legs are gone now.
Sonya then almost stumbled, actually trying to walk was the hard part, like she was a baby learning how to walk, or a grandma losing her energy to walk normally.
She took a deep breath and let out a big sigh, trying to walk a little step by step.
“This feels stupid.” She mumbles.
“Sorry Mrs.Blade.”
“Don’t apologize, just, thanks for reviving me.” Sonya appreciates Delaney, even if she barely knew the girl and she was ready for death and this was a form of torture in of its self.
“Do you have a bathroom here by chance?”
Delaney nodded and show her the direction of the bathroom. The building was futuristic and so white, almost in a creepy hospital way.
Sonya walks into the bathroom and turns on the sink, puts her hands in, and splashes some of the cold water onto her unexpected face.
Not a dream.
Sonya looks up at the mirror and finds a scar that goes across her nose that seems to reach from ear to ear. But other than that, she was herself mostly.
God, she wants to go home and sleep this away.
Wait.
Was that even a good idea? Yeah, she was revived but would it be okay if she just goes to the Special Forces? She is dead known to the records, they probably wouldn’t recognize her due to missing legs and unexplainable scars all over her body. Plus, Cassie is probably recovering from Sonya’s death. And then there is Johnny, Jax, and her niece Jacqui that know she is dead too, heck a lot of people know she has passed, well now think instead of know.
Should she really be like hey! I am not dead! Or will that screw up Cassie’s mental health and the others?
“I am so sorry Cassandra.” She whispers into the mirror.
She truly doesn’t know what to do.
