A Story Too True

Po walked down the hall, careful not to make too much noise. After hearing some of the duck's stories, it made sense why the floor squeaked under the weight of the panda. It didn't, however, make any sense why the whole barracks wasn't collapsing in on itself. The number of crashes and accidental hits the poor house suffered when the Furious Five, Tigress, and Tai Lung moved in was both impressive and frightening. Po finally made it to the door and knocked. "Tigress?"

"Come in."

The panda walked into the tiger's room where she lay beside her bed, looking out the open window. Her knees were off to the side as if she were praying or talking to some celestial creature.

Or maybe a nightly duck. "Was Zeng here?" Po asked.

"No, why?"

"Nothing, just... wondering what you were doing by the window like that."

Tigress smiled as the panda sat next to her, resting his back against the bed. "Zeng would often tell me stories like this. Doing this just... brought back a lot of memories."

"I see," Po smiled. They shared a moment of silence, watching the moon bathe the sky. "The generals went back to the Emperor. They're talking with him and Shifu to repair some of the damage done to the palace hierarchy."

"Why?"

"Some of the people in the Deadly Generals' organization turned out not to be all that loyal to them. They only went with the generals because they thought it would mean overthrowing the Emperor."

"Which the generals didn't want in the first place." Po nodded. "So now what?"

"Zeng and the generals are working on bringing the rest of the spy organization to justice," Po said.

Tigress smirked, "And he still won't teach them?"

"Hm?"

"When we came back from the Valley of Xang, Hu wanted to learn more from Dead Shot Duck," Tigress chuckled a bit. "Zeng laughed and said, 'So I can teach you how to kill me? No thank you, I'll leave that to my wife.'"

"HAHAHAHA!" Po burst out laughing. "Oh, I always wondered why Zeng talked about his wife the way he did. Now I completely understand. She's more vicious than you are when I mess up."

"I'm not that mad at you," Tigress replied. Po rose an eyebrow with a deadpanned face. "Never mind, you're right." She sighed, resting her head on the bed. "It will be... different not having him."

"Yeah, I'm gonna miss him," Po sighed. He looked at Tigress. Her gaze softly bore into some spot on the wall, not really focusing on anything. Her lips turned down as her shoulders sagged. "Are you going to be okay?"

"I will. I just... I'm going to miss him," Tigress sighed. "It feels like there's a whole different person I failed to met."

"Why didn't you get to know him when he was here?"

"Kung fu training didn't allow for much else other than nighttime stories," Tigress sighed. "But... I don't know. Maybe I figured every animal below my waist didn't want to be around me," She chuckled.

"I'm not that short, Stripes," Said a voice from the window sill. Po and Tigress snapped their heads up. A familiar black-clothed duck sat on the window sill with a large smirk. "And I think I have some time for more than just stories."

"Oooh I'm so excited!" Po said.

"What about the Deadly Generals?" Tigress asked.

"They'll be fine. The Emperor said that he'll make them part of his shadow group so no one knows about them. And no one will dishonor their families. Kill two birds with one stone," Zeng said, winking at Tigress. The feline simply coughed awkwardly. "They'll carry on their promise to take down the rest of their spy organization and I'll be able to retire in peace with a clear conscience." The duck looked at the moon, sighing heavily.  "It's over. It's finally over."
