What a lot of new students don't know is Ginny Weasley's and Y/n Esme's friendship.

Well, you can't call it a friendship anymore. They went from friends to absolute enemies, the fault falling on one side. The incident happened to be pretty recent, happening only a year prior in the beginning of their 5th year.

Y/n Esme has never felt this kind of pain. Losing a long time friendship hurt much more than losing a relationship and she stood by that.

Her and Ginny became friends in their third year, somewhere in the middle because of some sort of project that partnered them up. At first, Y/n wasn't fond of her because she knew that Ginny was in love with Potter, causing her to not think positively of the girl. How on earth could someone fall in love with such a wanker?

But something made them click instantly, it was a friendship she thought that would honestly be forever. Ginny, Daphne, Cho, Draco and Blaise were her closest friends. But Ginny was like a sister.

That was until 5th year.

Y/n's first boyfriend. Dean Thomas.

A boy she's had her eyes on for quite a while, but the girl didn't really want to make a move due to his pretty close friendship with Potter. She thought he'd hate her. What she didn't except was quite the opposite.

She still remembers telling Ginny about her crush on him.

"I don't know what to do Gin, i feel like we're getting closer but at the same time i don't feel it, you get me?" They talked in the halls of Hogwarts, walking to their next classes.

"No I don't get it." She laughed. "Come on, make a move on him. It's sad watching you chase him."

"I'm not chasing him. I'd never fucking chase a guy." Y/n rolled her eyes jokingly, a smile on her face. "Besides he could do something too, i'm sick of sending hints."

"Girl he is! You're both just blind." Ginny looked to the side, shrugging. "Okay i have to go, don't want Snape to put me in detention."

"Love you bye!" They hugged, parting to their classes.

Their fallout was pretty loud in the walls of Hogwarts. Soon enough, everyone was gossiping about it, which made Y/n angrier than ever. She vividly remembers shutting herself out completely for a few days, trying to pick herself up.

She stared silently at the sky, a deep sigh leaving her mouth. All of the times Ginny made an effort to help her with Dean was just a way to get closer to him. None of it was real.

"Oh my god! Gin! Gin!" Y/n ran up to her in the halls, hugging her tightly with a huge smile on her face.

Ginny jumped a bit, but returned the hug from her. "Hey, what's up? What's gotten you in such a giddy mode?" She giggled, rubbing her back.

"Dean asked me out! I can't believe it!" She kept grinning, waiting for a reaction from Ginny. The Gryffindor girl stared at her surprised, not saying a word.

Y/n frowned. "Gin? You okay?" She laughed, knocking her out of the small daze.

"O-oh that's amazing Y/n! I-i'm so glad he finally made a move!" She laughed nervously, going in for another hug, hugging tightly than before.
