One Week passed, and the exams questions were in .They wrote it through , but there were two days left for them to finish. Prom was coming soon , and time really was on their side , they spent breaks , lunches and recesses and weekends together. Greg's parents were at work , so they had time .
Greg wanted to surprise lacy by asking her out on the final day , but in the mean time they studied together and at the same time they talked with each other.
"So , what would do if a guy asked you out ? "Greg asked.
"I don't know , maybe if the guy was responsible and loving "
Greg had an idea on how he can make himself be loved by his crush, he decided he was going to be more responsible, but he wasn't really changing for her , he thought that if he became more responsible , he would have a chance .
"So what do you think of me" Greg asked
"Well , your okay" she said with a smile as if to say that she knew where this was going .
Then Greg was relieved , thinking that he was on the safe side.
They sat there , looking in each other's eyes , they couldn't finish studying without staring at each other's eyes. They came closer , and closer , they almost shared a kiss.
" Umm ... Lacy" lacy's mom walked in , and was shocked.
"What's going on" she said with a smile.
" It's not what you think , we're not dating" he said, as he stood up and packed his bag.
" Can you please excuse me and my daughter lacy's mum said with a smile.
Greg took his bag and walked out of the room , and apologized.
"Mom , we were studying" she tried to explain.
"I understand" ,her mum said,"but i don't want your feelings getting crushed , remember we have to move to Atlanta .
" I just can't tell him" lacy said , as she broke out sobbing and crying," it's so hard , I can't let him go".
"You have to , it's not going to be easy but.."
"I know ... I have to stay strong" lacy said.
Lacy leaned on her mom's shoulder , and her mom comforted her with these words saying 'it's okay , it's okay'.
Time went by, but they were still friends , they finished the exam , and they strolled , and took their dogs for walks and they talked and had long lasting conversations , and the more they were together, the more fear was created in lacy's heart , the fear of letting him go.
She just loved him , and wasn't ready to leave him , she hoped time could just wait a while.
