Chapter 2

When my eyes flutter open I look around to see I am in a room with blue walls and laying on a queen sized bed with a blanket wrapped around me. I feel a hand lay over my forehead and I look over to find Matt sitting next to me holding my hand. My vision is horribly blurry.

“Hey” Matt says with a smile. I try to sit up only to find my arms can’t support me so I fall back onto the bed.

“Relax” he says and of course I relax.”You really drained yourself out there.” he says.

I look around to see a clock that says 11 a.m.

“How long have I been here?” I ask worrying about my grandparents.

“Since yesterday when you fainted, so just over night.” he informed me as I remembered the events from yesterday.

Just over night? My Grandma is probably freaking out. I automatically try to stand up, going to rush to my house, but when I stand my legs give up and I fall almost hitting the floor before Matt catches me.

“Lorelee, just relax. We called your grandma and told her everything. Even about us. Why we came here.” he explains.

“Is what you said yesterday all true?” I whisper. Matt looks at me and gives me a sad smile.

“Yes. Everything. I’m not going to lie to you Lorelee.” he promises.

Tears fall down my cheeks and I turn away, embarrassed for crying infront of someone like Matt. He turns my face and wipes the tears away with his thumb.

“Hey. Don’t cry. They didn’t abandon you. They left you because they didn’t know you were going to develop abilities like your dad. Your dad dropped everything from his past for you and your mom. They were trying to protect you. We came here because I know you remember us Lorelee. I know you remembered yesterday. People are trying to kill you. Your Jason’s daughter. Almost as powerful as him. You play a big role in the Moraynen. You’re not a freak. Your special. Your perfect.” he says.

I was surprised at what he just told me. He stood up and left the room closing the door quietly. I look around the room and spot a change of clothes on the small couch. I change into the peach colored skinny jeans, a floral blue and peach tank top, a white sweater, and my black boots instead of the heels Tori provided me. I brush through my wavy black hair that falls past my shoulders and apply mascara and eyeliner around my green eyes. I practice walking around the room building my strength back up and eventually head out of the room. When I stand in the hallway I see Matt and Tori sitting by a fire in a small living room. I head over to them and take a seat next to Matt.

“You’re not wearing heels!” exclaims Tori with a sigh.

“Yeah. I’m not really a heels kinda girl. Just my boots.” I apologized with a small smile.

“So! Did Matt tell you about your dad?” she asks excitedly.

“Yeah. He also told me people were trying to kill me?” I ask.

“ Yeah. Ok look. We came here to bring you back. You need to make a decision. Either you stay here or you come with us. But don’t panic! You have a week. Oh, and either decision you make, your grandparents will be there so if you come with us so do they. Thats what they told us.” Tori quickly informed me.

“A week? Ok I can decide in a week.” I agree.

I can’t believe these people are actually like me. I am finally not alone in this. I finally know I’m not a freak. Matt went out to pick up the chinese food for lunch and immediately after he left Tori starts giggling.
