What Will You do Frey?

Frey woke up the next morning, still feeling the sting of Leon's words still rattling in her head. Her heart ached but if Leon wanted space she'd honor it. She sighed as she changed into to her usual dress and made her way around town greeting everyone. As she headed up to the Bell Hotel to at least greet Lin Fa and Xiao Pai, she felt the ache in her chest return but she ignored it, put a smile on her face and headed inside.

Upon entering she was surprised to find Xiao Pai waiting as if she was expecting Frey's arrival.

"Xiao Pai," Frey said as Xiao Pai walked up to her.

"Hi Frey. Did something happen between you and Leon again?" Xiao Pai asked.

Frey let out a huh as Xiao Pai continued, "He's been acting strangely."

"What do you mean?" Frey asked.

"Well if I had to describe it in one word....he was creepy," Xiao Pai stated.

"What?!" Frey questioned as her concern rose.

"He was being extremely kind, but spooky quiet. Not his usual self, where he teases people for no reason," Xiao Pai explained.

"Actually I think there's a reason why he teases people," Frey stated.

"Oh really?" Xiao Pai questioned hoping Frey would answer.

"Erm maybe not," Frey said as she couldn't come up with a logical answer for his teasing.

A small pause before Xiao Pai continued, "Mama is worried too."

This statement concerned Frey as she hadn't meant to worry Lin Fa.

"As we see it, both you and Leon seem upset," Xiao Pai said as Frey looked down at her feet trying to hide her obvious sadness.

Xiao Pai continued, "Like you'll disappear into the air anytime."

Frey hmmed and asked Xiao Pai a question, "Hey Xiao Pai?"

Xiao Pai hmmed in response and Frey continued, "If you believe really strongly in something and try your hardest to make it happen, what do you do if you fail? How do you handle it?"

"Well...there's nothing you can do," Xiao Pai bluntly stated.

Sensing Frey's concern Xiao Pai continued, "No one complains if you try, try, try and then succeed. But sometimes you can try, try, try and still fail. And that's okay. Because you tried. You tried different things and changed those things when they didn't work. And maybe it's the trying that matters not the result. If you try your best, then have no regrets. You just have to set a goal and do everything you can to reach it. And as long as you stick to it, you can accept the result no matter what it is. And that way if it works out, you're especially happy because you tried so hard and you won!"

Frey stood there pondering Xiao Pai's incredibly long but somehow sense making speech.

"So Frey. What do you want to do?" Xiao Pai asked.

"Huh?" Frey asked as she was unsure of what exactly Xiao Pai was asking.

"What are you trying for? And what can you do to make it happen?" Think about these questions," Xiao Pai stated.

Frey stood there and thought long and hard about what she wanted and it was that she just wanted Leon to smile.

Xiao Pai smiled and said, "I don't know what your wish may be. But as long as there's the iron will to try, then there's a future. Having desire means that you want to move forward. And if you want to, you will. At least that's how I've always thought. What will you do? Will you give up? Can you give up?"

"I won't give up!" Frey confidently stated.

"I see. Then good luck. Believe in yourself. And try to solve it your own way," Xiao Pai encouraged.

"However I can?" Frey questioned.

"That's right!" Xiao Pai encouraged.

Frey stood there reflecting on Xiao Pai's words and thought. She knew she didn't know what Leon thought. And that she couldn't solve his problem with Maria but what she could do was what she's always done this whole time and that was stay by his side. For that was something only she could do.

"Thank you so much Xiao Pai!" Frey said happily.
