"Mother told Zephora to stop cutting off the tails of my scorpions! How am I gonna make masterpieces if my artworks are in tiny pieces?!" Iris whined as she opened the box of dead scorpions in the backseat of the car.  I roll my eyes and continue to sketch out the creature my father took a photograph of. The photo was blurry so he wanted me to sketch out as much as I could see. "You shouldn't have put pesticides in her cockroach bin Iris, an eye for eye." I replied. My mother looked around the car, out into the dark rainy abyss. It looked like she was worried we were being followed. "Where are we going anyway mother? Father hasn't said a word since we started this nearly three hour drive." Zephora asked as she leaned towards the front seat. As I went to try and pull her back into her seat the car suddenly stopped and she went through the windshield. The mix of screams and screeches blurred my mind as the car shook violently.

I woke up with a jolt from my bed, cold sweat beading down my face. I get up and head towards the bathroom and splash my face with cold water. I stare at my pale complexion in the mirror. The dark circles under my eyes identify my lack of sleep and poor eating habits. I head out of the restroom and go to my dresser to collect my uniform. Might as well get ready, I check the time, 5:30am. Wednesday Should be awake by now, I brush my hair and collect my bag from the side of the bed and exit my dorm. I quietly speed walk towards my cousin's room and give it our special knock. Without a second to waste my cousin opens the door, also ready for school. 'Took you long enough, get in here.' she ordered as she motions for me to enter the room.

I looked over at her side of the room, she had stripped it of color, even the windows. I laugh a little at that. I sit on Wednesday's bed as she types away on her typewriter. We sat in comfortable silence until she spoke up. "So tell me, how long have you been having nightmares? I can  very much smell the fear off  of you." she turned in her chair towards me. "This was the first one since that night dear cousin don't worry." I reassure her. "For legal reasons we have to see a therapist in Jericho, a small town about 25 minutes away from here." she informed me. "I'm guessing that is our cover for our escape?" I questioned. She nodded at me.

Enid woke up shortly after we ended our conversation about our planned escape. Our first class was sword fighting. Me and Wednesday walk across the class room for our sparring session. Wednesday watched Bianca, who was easily beating this small kid and I immediately knew what she was thinking. "I wish to spar with you, without helmets, first one to draw blood wins" She declares. Bianca smirks and draws her sword. A crowd begins to form around us. I watch as the two spar. They are both quick on their feet, but Wednesday is getting too confident. Everyone "ooed' and gasped as the two began to get more and more violent. I looked towards the back of the crowd to see Xavier, who was staring intensely at the fight. Suddenly a bunch of gasps were heard and I snapped my head towards Wednesday who was holding her head.

I rush towards her and hand her a cloth to put on her head, Bianca smirks at the two of us. "At least she has some color on her now." She laughed. I grab my sword and stand on the sparring mattress. "Okay then, my turn" I say slowly. We get in our stances, "Did I strike a nerve Addams? Why don't you go home" She taunts. I smirk, "At least I have one, unlike you." She lunges at me and I dodge every attack. She's becoming erratic, good. I swipe at her stomach and land two hits. Her white uniform is now stained with red. She stumbles back, becoming tired. Drop my sword and rush her with a knife I had concealed under my sleeve, a trick I learned from Wednesday and push up to her throat, pinning her to the wall. She immediately drops her sword, grabbing hold of my wrist.

"Look at how fast you can go from being high and mighty to weak and pathetic, all it took was a bit of pushing and I could play you like a violin so easily." I taunt. The crowd behind me yells at me to stop and to let her go. "Your dead Addams, dead!" one of them shouted. I turned to the crowd and let her go as she stomped away, her friends following closely after her. The teacher stops me, grabbing my shoulder. "That was too far Addams, it's only your first day and you're already causing trouble. You're supposed to be keeping a low profile." He whispered in my ear.  He lets me go and I head to the infirmary to check on wednesday.

The nurse was putting a bandaid on her forehead by the time I got there. Wednesday stands up and turns to me, "you win?"  She questioned, I nod my head as we exit the infirmary and walk down the hall. "I won thanks to you," I praised as I handed her the knife back. "Never bring a knife to a sword fight, unless it's concealed." She repeated to herself, we heard rushing footsteps behind us. Turning to see Enid with an unreadable look on her face. "Is it true? Have you checked social media? Everyone is talking about How you tried to kill Bianca!" She exclaimed. My eye twitches at the statement. "I only beat her at her own game, don't get it wrong." I state as we all go into the classroom. Everyone's whispers and stares only make the class much more dreadful. Wednesday and I sadly couldn't sit next to each other in this class so I sat in the very back while she sat in the middle.

After a while more and more students began to file into the classroom, one of them being Xavier and Ajax, the boy who bad mouthed Wednesday might I add, stop at the doorway of the class. They seem to whisper to each other before Ajax takes a seat near Wednesday and Xavier sits in the seat right next to mine. He turns to me and gives me a questioning look. "You and Ajax were whispering at the door, why?" I ask. Xavier scoffs, "He's afraid you might kill him." He sighed as he pulled out a sketchbook and turned the pages. "You're not?" I questioned. "You haven't given me any reason to be, don't worry." He waved off. I turn my attention to the teacher.

~Few hours later.~

Mrs.Weems excused me out of class early for my separate therapy session in Jericho, we drove through the woods, past the wreck, she explained wednesday said the driver broke his neck. We stop at the entrance of the building, before I get out she grabs my arm. "Any ideas of running away stop now, your cousin has already tried." she smiled fakely. I jerk my arm away and head towards the building.

The blonde lady welcomes me into her office and we sit down. "I saw your cousin the other day." she grinned, trying to start a conversation. "How long did that last? I'd like to break that record." I replied. She frowns at me, "There is no need to be hostile, this is a safe space. Trust me," She tries to reason with me. I scoff and cross my arms. "I heard you were in a terrible accident from what Mrs. Weems asked me, ''Do you want to talk about it?" She prys. "No, my family is dead. That's that. Let's move on." I growled. "Now, now let's not be too hasty I think you should tell me-" She tries to reach for my hand but I stand up and slap it away. "I'm not gonna tell you shit! They're dead! Now shut up and stop pushing it!" I shout. I stomp out of her office and jump into the car. "I'm done. Drive." I grumbled. Glaring at the window. Mrs. Weems sighs and drives off.  "I'll deal with her when we get back, just sleep for now I guess." She said as she drove. I lean my head on the window and stare out at the wilderness, slowly falling asleep.
