Unlike what everybody think of Ben, he didn't choose to become a vampire, he had a good life with lots of brilliant memories.

So when he arrived home to see all of them tied up with people standing next to them he became very aware of his surroundings and his job to be a good older brother.
From what he could see the people next to his family were vampires looking for their next victims and their new vampire trademark. His mother was fully drained, of blood and life, he knew she wouldn't make it out of this alive, but as for his dad and sister, if he save them now would make a full recovery.
He knew what he had to do and how to do it.
Finally he spoke up and became a vampire to protect the only people he ever cared about.
The images still haunted him today.
Every night before he fell asleep and every morning when he woke up, he saw their hopeless and ghost like faces looking at him as if he were the answer to everything.
