"Scourge, Scourge!!" A voice shouts, a gleaming yellow light slowly lighting up the darkened night sky, the shine reflecting on the roof the two were currently at. The fern hedge looks over at the other, holding his newly lit cigarette near his mouth. "What is it?" He asks nonchalantly, putting the cig in his mouth. "I know we've known each other for a while... a couple of years? I honestly don't remember." The bright hedge stopped his flight, standing in front of the other. "Yes we have, so whatcha need?"
The bright one looked flushed, "L.. Look I just- I have to tell you this. I.. I really don't know how much longer I can hold this from you." He spoke, gently grabbing onto his own arm, he looked anxious. Scourge was now fully facing him, confused as to why he was acting so strange... like a girl getting ready to confess her crush to another person. "What is it swirls, I don't got all night." The fern spoke, protruding the silence. "Ok ok.. look I understand if you don't feel the same way, but.. but I think.. I think I'm in love.. with you." The golden one spoke, his voice quieting down as the sentence progressed.
The fern one was completely shocked, his face was now incredibly red, his heart pounding. Everything suddenly made sense, the feelings he'd had for the other just clicked. No wonder why he got so upset whenever someone else took interest in the hedgehog. "Hey, Fleetway, I do feel the same." He took out his cigarette and puffed out the carbons he had been holding in, "Maybe we just didn't pick it up from one another, even with your flirty banter." He smiled, the other looked at him in shock.
"Oh.. oh my god. You- you like me back??" With no words spoken, the golden hedge felt his hands be grabbed, and he was suddenly pulled closer to the other. "Of course I do, you've been filirting with me for years, it's hard to not catch feelings for your dumbass." You could hear his smirk in his words, the golden started to laugh, "Maybe you're right, and I just got too scared." The two fell silent, arms wrapping around one another. The glowing hedge closed his eyes gently, taking in the alluring scent of the other, he swore he could stay like this forever. The other was being more careful to not burn the peaceful hedge, his head turned slightly, one hand used to keep the cigarette even farther.
They stayed like that, the cooling winter air brushing through their quills. Maybe this is what love is, who'd know? Definitely not these two.
