your mother watched you proudly as you spoke to the fatui agent in front of you. the agent took down your name while you waited, and when he picked up the needle beside him, you extended your arm out to him. he stabbed the tip of your finger and took your finger, pressing the bloodied part on the bottom of the paper.
he handed you his quill. "sign your name." was all he said. you dared not dwell on his words like the other people who went before you, and quickly signed your name on the bottom of the page.
"y/n l/n, thank you for showing your interest in becoming a harbinger. her majesty the tsaritsa thanks you for your contribution. for snezhnaya." the agent did the signature salute of snezhnaya, and you followed swiftly.

you looked at the mirror in front of you. your face was just as calm as before. you didnt feel afraid of the fatui agents, nor did you have any particular opinions about it.
every time a fatui harbinger passes away (which is very rare), the diplomats will have a selection training process for over five months, and the most skilled and most talented one of all of the applicants will be selected to become a harbinger.
the requirement was simple: as long as the person who entered the training selection was 18 and above, they would be guaranteed a pass. those who were not selected to become a harbinger would then become soldiers, agents, diplomats and other lower level people working FOR the harbingers.
every parent dreams of their child to become a harbinger, however not every child wants to be a harbinger.
you on the other hand, you didnt know what you wanted. being a harbinger would guarantee you a lifetime of security, apart from never knowing when you were going to die. being a harbinger meant that you would need to pretty much go into battle without knowing whether or not you would ever make it out alive.
