Chris POV

I began to worry. "Why is he in the hospital? Is he sick or something?" Alan avoided my question and looked at the ground. He looked down for several more moments before looking up and speaking quietly.

"There's been an accident. Tom was broadsided by a drunk driver at an intersection. He's in critical condition right now." My heart sank to the pit of my stomach. Natalie looked shocked along with Anthony.

"Will he be ok!?" I said, rather loudly, earning me a few looks from the others. I didn't care though.. Because I had feelings for tom. He wasn't like most other men.. He was kind and funny, not to mention really sexy, but I wasn't about to admit that out loud.

"I don't know. But I'm on my way to the hospital to get more details." Alan looked at me. "I take it you want to come along?" Alan was the only person who knew how much tom meant to me. He had found out over a few drinks in a bar. Luckily, he kept my secret safe.

I nodded. "He's my best friend.. Of course I want to go with." Alan simply nodded and grabbed his coat.

"Let's go then, and pray to god I wont need to find a new actor." Alan mumbled. I shuttered. Alan walked swiftly to a waiting car and I fallowed after him. I was scared for Tom. What if his injuries were so severe that he had to quit acting? Or worse.. What if he dies? I mentally slapped myself. I can't think such horrible things.

After about a 15 minute drive and several of Alan's phonecalls, we arrived at the hospital. I was anxious to see Tom. We got out of the car and hurried inside just as the clouds let loose a summer rain shower...

Toms POV

I'm dead... I know I'm dead... That drunk driver hit me and now I'm dead, but is the driver OK?... My whole body feels cold and numb. I tried to move something, anything. A finger, a toe... Nothing. Fear took the place of the gentle peace I had felt. What now? Then I felt something. It was a small something, someone was holding my hand. I tried desperately to open my eyes but to no avail.

Then came a soft voice. "...m? ...om? Tom can u hear me?..." I recognized that voice. It was Chris. My heart leapt. I was alive after all, and Chris, chris was here to guide me out of this blackness..

Chris POV

My heart sank further when I stepped into Tom's hospital room. He had an oxygen mask over his mouth and nose. There were bandages around his head and a thick cast around his left leg. His left shoulder had been dislocated, but was now in a sling resting on Tom's chest. His face had cuts and bruises from the glass. I listened to the heart monitors slow beeping, this meant Tom was alive. Shaken and bruised, but alive. I was thankful that they had given him a morphine drip to keep the pain away.

I gently held his right hand. "Tom?.. Tom?... Tom can you hear me?" I smiled a little when the heart monitor jumped a little. Tom could hear me, and that was his way of showing he could. The doctor walked in along with Alan.

"He's in a stable condition right now, and i'm hoping he continues to stay that way. However, I've contacted his family but no one can come take care of him. He won't be able to walk for several months so he needs someone to watch over him." As the doctor finished speaking, Alan looked at me.

"Chris? Why don't you take care of him? He's your best friend after all."
My heart leapt. That was a great idea! I could spend time with Tom and hopefully finally tell him how I feel!

"Sure. I wouldn't mind helping him out." I smiled.

"Then it's settled. Tom will be under your care." Alan smiled.

Tom's POV

I could feel a weight lifting off of me as I slowly opened my eyes. The lights were bright so I had to close them again. After a minute or two I tried again. This time I was able to make out two blurry figures next to my bed. I blinked a few times and things began to focus. As my eyes adjusted, I realized that one figure was Chris, and the other was a coat rack. I glanced at Chris who was reading People Magazine.
"C-Chris...." It took all my effort to speak his name, but it was enough to get his attention. He looked over his magazine and his eyes lit up.

"Tom? Your awake," He smiled. "I was so worried about you. I'll get the doctor." He set the magazine down and pushed the call button on the wall. Before long a doctor came in, and Chris stepped out of the room.

Chris POV

Excitement ran through my body as I picked up my cellphone and dialed Alan's number. Tom was awake! After 3 days he'd finally woken up! Alan's tired voice answered the phone.

"Yes? What is it Chris?"

"Its Tom. He's awake!" I beamed.

"Thank god... Give him my regards OK? I'll tell the others." With that he hung up.

I went back into the room to find Tom inclined in bed. I saw a faint smile when he looked at me.

"H-hey... Chris." He choked out. I held his hand and squeezed lightly.

"Hey Tom." I smiled. "Try not to talk OK? You need your rest."

Tom looked down at his feet for a moment then looked back at me.

"I-is the driver OK?" I was shocked. Here Tom was laying in a hospital bed with severe injuries, and he's worrying about the guy who almost killed him. Then again... That's just the kind hearted person Tom is.

"The driver is OK. He was released from the hospital 2 days ago. He's more than likely going to jail."

Tom nodded a little. I could see he was relieved that the driver was at least alive...

Tom's POV

It was a warm day when I was finally released from the hospital. I was glad to learn that Chris would be taking care of me. Chris helped me into the passenger seat of his car and buckled me in.

"There. Are you in any pain? Is the seatbelt to tight? Are you hot? Do you want me to turn on the air conditioning?" I smiled.

"Chris I'm OK. The pain isn't bad right now, and the seatbelt is fine."

Chris still looked worried.

"Are you hungry? We can stop for ice cream to celebrate you leaving the hospital?" I smiled again and held back a chuckle.

"Well I'm not hungry really, but ice cream sounds brilliant." This seemed to satisfy Chris for now. He started the car and drove to the nearest DQ. We went through the drive through and I insisted on getting a vanilla waffle cone dipped in chocolate. Chris smiled and ordered the same thing.

"Copy cat." I smiled.

"Hey, I can't help it if we like the same things." He smiled back.

I could already tell that having Chris take care of me was going to be fun.
