My morning has been hell already. I woke up to multiple text messages from Mark. Each one getting incredibly more aggressive ending with him vowing to make me pay for ruining his life. All I could do after reading the messages was sit down and cry. What made him change so much from b3ing a loving boyfriend to such a cruel person that I didn't want to be around. I need to stop thinking about because I am already standing outside The James Building and I didn't want to start crying again. I wanted to make a good impression on this Anne person I was to meet with. I was also feeling a bit of disappointment since I hadn't heard from my new friend yet today. I know I shouldn't feel this way but for some reason I can't just seem to help it.  Taking a deep breath I opened the door and walked up to the security desk.

"May I help you?"

"I am supposed to meet with an  Anne Brown. She should be expecting me." The intense look on this man's face scared me a little bit.

"Name?"

"Juniper Lyons."

"One moment, please."

I watched as he picked up the phone and spoke to someone. After a few moments he began to look at me strangely and had me a little confused.  While he was finishing up on the phone, I started to feel like I was being watched. But glancing around I couldn't tell from where.  The feeling makes me want to message my new friend. I was surprised I hadn't heard from him yet today but that's ok. I do need to start to stand on my own two feet. Glancing back at the security guard I saw that he was hanging up the phone.

"Ms. Lyons, here you go." He passed me a security pass. "Take the middle elevator to the top floor and Mrs. Brown will be waiting on you."

Taking the pass I quickly thanked him and made my way over to the bank of three elevators. Stepping into the middle one I quickly hit the button for the top floor. As the elevator rose I tried to take so me deep calming breaths as I waited for the elevator to reach the 18th (or top) floor. Finally reaching its destination, the doors o owned and I was meet with the smiling and friendly looking face of Anne Brown.

"Ms. Lyons, it's a pleasure to meet you and I am glad that you were able to come on such short notice."

"It was no problem. I am grateful for the opportunity." I smiled as I shook the hand she had offered me.

"Let's make our way to my desk and I will explain what your duties are going to be."

I silently followed behind and looked around in amazement at the opulent office. It was opulent but at the same time tastefully furnished. I also wondered who Anne was within the company. She lead me over to an l-shaped  desk and had me sit down in one of the two chairs.

"You will be working as my assistant. You will be helping with data entry task, setting up for meetings, and any other tasks as needed when they come up. I will also be teaching my actually jobs because there may be times you will need to fill in and act in my stead."

"Ok. That should be no problem. But may I ask what actually is your job? I did some basic research on the company yesterday but couldn't figure out what your job was. I wanted to come in prepared today."

"Sorry about that. I forgot to tell you. I am the executive assistant to Henrik James." She pointed across to the back of the large room. "That door right there is Mr. James' office. No one is allowed in there unless asked for.  Not even employees trying to see him. Mr. James keeps a very strict schedule and no changes are ever made unless he does  it himself or instructs us to."

I smiled at her. "Understood."

The rest of the morning went by rather swiftly. Anne kept me busy showing and explaining everything that I would need to know. I still got the feeling that I was being watched but with keeping busy I dint dwell on it much. About 30 minutes before lunch, an angry man came storming off the elevator. This man looked crazed and was scaring me. But I wasn't sure what to do since Anne had stepped away and was go ing to be gone for about 15 minutes.

"I demand to see Henrik James right now."

Taking a deep breath I ask, "Do you have an appointment?" My question seemed to piss this guy off even more.

"I don't need a fucking appointment. Take me to see Henrik James Now."

"I am sorry sir. You are not allowed to see Mr. James without an appointment. I can schedule you one right now."

The man, with no warning, slapped me across the face at full strength. "Listen here you bitch. You are nothing but an insignificant nobody with no real value in this world. You will do as I say and take me to Henrik James now."

"I am sorry but I can't." I couldn't help the tears that were pouring down my face. The throbbing pain in my cheek was so is tense it was even making talking difficult. The man was drawing back his hand to slap me again when his wrist was grabbed from behind. I look up into the furious eyes of Henrik James.
