If You Hold Me Without Hurting Me, You'll Be The First Who Ever Did

A couple days later a storm was rolling in over Echo Beach. There had been storms before but none whilst Georgia had been there, for some reason her expecting them to not exist in a place like this. The sky darkened as grey and black clouds grew in size until there was nothing left of the once pristine blue that had painted the back of everyone's lives, the earth shrouded in an ominous shadow that caused people to hurry indoors and lock everything up tight. As the wind gradually picked up until it was battering against the sides of buildings and carrying leaves to far distant lands, the beach fronts were drowned in the now icy undercurrents of the ocean. Once calm but instead chaotic, waves crashing onto nearby rocks and boats in the harbors barely holding onto the docks.

Considering the mood lately of everyone, this was pathetic fallacy if Georgia had ever seen it, rolling her eyes as she looked out of her bedroom window. Whilst everyone else in Echo Beach was either hunkering down or not looking up, everyone at Connor's house was preparing to leave for a small excursion. Well, all of them except Georgia. As she strolled downstairs in clothes that were normally supposed to be used for sleeping but were now being utilized for comfort, she smiled at the rest of them as they all put their coats or jackets on by the front door. When Georgia reached the bottom of the stair she rounded the bannister and took a seat next to Joey on a small cushioned bench thing no one ever really payed much attention to.

"I heard about what happened the other day" said Joey as he put something in his coat pocket. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine" replied Georgia, sighing slightly but smiling. "Thanks for asking."

"I know that Drew managed to get some hurtful stuff in there but I also heard that you really laid into him" said Joey, smirking. "I know what's happening to him is super depressing but when he was being an ass, I'm proud of you for not just taking it."

"I mainly tried to just tell him what he needed to hear" replied Georgia, a little worried. "I was thinking about it the last couple nights and I hope he didn't take too much offense by it."

"First of all, he's said a lot worse without caring about how that might effect someone after the fact and second, you still made it clear to him that you and the rest of us will always be here for him no matter what" said Joey, nudging Georgia in a comforting way. "Ignoring all the other stuff, I'm sure he's doing just fine."

"I'm going to choose to believe you" replied Georgia, both of them smiling. "By the way, about the other day, where the hell were you exactly?"

"I honestly have no clue" said Joey, shrugging. "I had a terrible headache and everything else is a blank."

"Right" replied Georgia, pursing her lips and glancing around, both of them then laughing.

"Are you sure you don't want to come to the cinema?" Asked Joey, nudging her again.

"I think I'm alright" answered Georgia, smiling softly. "I'm just going to have a quiet day here."

"Okay' said Joey, smiling as well and then hugging her quickly before standing up. "We'll see you later."

"Alright, bye" replied Georgia, smiling and waving at everyone as they left, all of them shouting bye back before closing the door and leaving her alone.

Two hours later the house was still empty, the only noise echoing through the empty space coming from Georgia in the kitchen. The tap was running and she was wiping a soap soaked sponge in and around a dirty bowl. She didn't like leaving things dirty when she knew she could easily just clean it right then in that moment and she hated it even more when it was at someone else's house. Georgia had made herself some pasta with a tomato pesto sauce, an easy and simple meal but filling just the same. After the bowl was completely clean, Georgia retrieved a tea towel and carefully dapped the bowl to make sure it was dry before placing it back inside the cupboard she had only gotten it from half an hour ago.
