This turned into a vent by accident sorry...

Wanda's POV

We left y/n in his room for a few minutes whilst we continued with his party, he came back a little while later and I joined him at the buffet. "Hey kiddo, are you alright?"

"Yeah I love it, thank you guys." He said avoiding eye contact. "Peter is looking for you, he is sat in the corner over there."

"Oh yeah, thanks Wanda." He said quickly walking off. I frowned slightly confused, before feeling arms wrap around my stomach. "Everything okay love?" Nat whispered, I sighed in response. "Talk to me love." She said softly making me smile slightly. "I am just worried about y/n. I think he is hiding something, I don't think he is as happy as he says he is and I don't know what to do."

"I know, but we just need to wait for him to talk to us, we can't rush him this is a big change, he will feel better soon." Natasha reassured kissing my cheek. "You are right." I smiled turning around and kissing her, "as always." She said with a smirk, I playfully rolled my eyes.

"Hey can y/n come over here please. Y/n Romanoff-Maximoff? Is y/n here?" Tony said into the microphone, I looked at y/n whos face was bright red with embarrassment. He slkwly walked through the crowd of people and I could feel my hands glow red with anger. "Baby calm down it's okay." Natasha said turning my cheek so I was looking at her. "He knows y/n gets anxious around people." I scoffed. "Yeah but he is okay. If he needs us we can help him but you making a scene will just make it worse for him."

"Okay." I sighed walking over to where y/n and Tony stood, Tony was holding a cake whilst y/n stared at it. "Make a wish kid!" Tony smiled but y/n shook his head. "Baby are you okay?" I tried placing my hand on his shoulder but he flinched back. "I- sorry I can't." My heart broke as he fought his way through the crowd, we tried calling out after him but he didn't stop.

We followed him to his room and I knocked quietly. "Baby can we come in? It's just me and Nat." He didn't respond so I opened it a little and saw him on the door struggling to breathe, "y/n, it's okay, we are here. Deep breaths you can do it." I said pushing open the door and kneeling beside him.

"Do you want us to go? I can go if you want me to." Natasha said from behind us. Y/n shook his head so Natasha walked in and knelt down the other side of me. "It's gonna be okay buddy keep taking deep breaths." After a few minutes he calmed down and we just hugged him. "Do you want to talk about it?"

"The cake reminded me of my mom on the last birthday I had with her. I bought myself a cake because she didn't show any interest in my birthday but she did and when she saw my cake she got mad and said I didn't deserve any cake at all and she destroyed the cake I got for myself."

y/n POV
It wasn't exactly a lie, I just left out the real reason my mom freaked out over my cake. But I couldn't exactly tell Wanda and Natasha that, I wasn't ready to come out yet. Not after what happened with my mom.

"Hey birthday girl I'm home! I got you a cake!" My mom's words were a little slurred so I could tell she had been drinking. "What are you doing?" She asked trying to seem curious but there was a sternness to it that made my heart sink, she walked up behind me and I could feel her staring at me. "What is this?" She asked pointing to my cake. "A birthday cake." I replied quietly.

"I already got you a cake, how selfish can you be?" She frowned pushing the cake away, she caught sight of the icing written on it in the process. "Really?! This stupid name thing again? You're name is the one I gave you. You're a girl and you always will be, I go through all this trouble to get you a nice cake and this is how you repay me? You are so selfish!"

"Mom my name is y/n." I said shakily, "ENOUGH!" She yelled putting her fist through the cake. "Okay now let's light these candles and at least try have a nice ending to your birthday hm?" She smiled lighting the candles on the pink, flowery cake she got for me. It always surprised me how fast she went from angry to happy and calm, but if I mentioned it she either claimed nothing happened or just blamed me so I kept quiet. "Come on honey, make a wish."
