you and danny come in the dining room. lunch had been set, but nobody else. "the other children had lunch, janie explained."they're outside playing. so, i was hoping i could say this new very... nicely."

you nodded, siting down, danny across from you. "i'm selling this place, she spoke. "this may no longer be a home for boys next year. i decided i would officially retire. which is why i had hoped you would come this summer."

"oh, danny said. "well, if this will help you, then i'm happy for you, aunt janie, you smile. she smiles back. "you're both such good kids." you smile. danny sighed."i really wish we were here the other summers, would've had more time."

"don't blame yourselves, you didn't know who i was, janie assures danny. you sighed, thinking of him once more. did he come back? deep down, your feelings... were still there. but refuse to even feel them, let alone accept they were still in you.

she looks over."(y/n), you okay?" you nodded. "i'm fine. i just.. need some sleep. but i will once i finish lunch." janie nodded. you finished lunch, and like you said, went in your room for some sleep.

you were exhausted, maybe even more. you just needed some sleep. you close your eyes, falling asleep. you hoped you'd only sleep for an hour or so. which you did. when you woke up, you check the time. only 1 hour passed.

you sigh of relief. you even felt energized. you loved naps. but didn't have much in your life. you were busy, schoolwork, friends, etc... which explained why you finally had one nap. you were confused seeing an envelope on your window. taped from the outside.

you laughed. softly, thinking maybe danny was joking with you. you grab the envelope, clearly something was inside, before closing your window. you would open it later. you forgot about your friend group.

you felt so bad. but maybe, they would have fun without you, hopefully. or you'd write to them. either one you would be fine with. they were real friends. you couldn't hang out with them every single time.

besides, you were here, having fun of your own. danny knocks on your door. "hey (y/n), you wanna walk with me? he asks. you nodded, going downstairs, putting on your shoes. you liked walks, especially with danny.

you were lucky you were so close with him. some people weren't close with their siblings. but you were. you were close with both of your brothers. you both begin walking outside. danny suddenly blurts, "do you think he's back?"

you shook your head."nope. didn't get any visits from him. maybe he isn't even in hackensack anymore." danny smile."good, but you know, he is unexpected so who knows hm?" you chuckle, before nodding.

you knew he was joking.

well, he was right on charles being unexpected. he loved surprises, you assumed since he surprised you so much. so literally any moment he could show up. but you didn't like living in fear, so you lived your life instead.

"so, did you open the envelope? danny asked you shook your head. "how did you know.." "you had the envelope in your hand, danny explained. you smile, continuing on walking for a bit longer.

you started to notice that it was getting darker outside. well darker than when you first began walking.

the group home was huge and you could see it from a mile away. but you realized you had gotten lost and somehow didn't see the house anymore.

"uh danny... you say. "are we lost?" danny looks around and then sighs."yup. but don't worry, (y/n), should be easy finding our way back."

"i hope so, you muttered, trying not to be negative but neither of you could see in the dark so it seemed pointless at first.

danny was walking in front of you as you were behind him and shivering kind of. it wasn't too cold but at night, weather was definitely colder and you didn't prepare to get lost obviously. you sigh. "(y/n), i think we're close, danny grins, his eyes widening.

janie might be upset, hopefully not mad. but you still didn't know her very well. you did know her for someone who was very positive, smiling quite often, from when she talked. you keep close by your brother.

for warmth, plus maybe you didn't like being by yourself right now. who could blame you? "see? danny smiles, hugging you. "we're back. i think dinner time now. so yeah, not bed time." you inhale, then exhale.

everything would be fine.

as you enter with danny, janie hugs you. "(y/n), danny! janie exclaimed. "i was so worried what happened?"

you laugh nervously. "we got lost. but it's fine, we're here now." she smiled. "here's dinner over there."

"okay, thank you aunt janie, you grinned. you were surprised she didn't get angry. but you were relieved.

you sit down and begin eating dinner. you were starving since you had to walk far enough to get back here.

dinner ended and you were stuffed like usual. if anything that was a delicious dinner. you wondered if janie cooked this or someone else did, you never knew.

whatever, credits to whoever cooked that wonderful meal. you didn't go to bed quite yet. you stayed downstairs for a few more hours and decided you were exhausted by nine.

danny followed behind you , and stood at your doorway, smiling. "goodnight, sis." you laugh."goodnight, big bro. i might read for a little longer. you know i love books." he nods, before going in his room.

you were in pjs, still focused on your book. you could feel the breeze from your open window. which, you were not really paranoid anymore. believing charles was finally out of your life. your lamp was on, and you happily were humming.

life seemed peaceful.

you yawned. "maybe i should get some sleep now." you look over, seeing fhe unopened envelope. maybe you should open now. you leave your bed, going over and opening the envelope. you should've waited. you shouldn't have given in to your curiosity.

your eyes widen.

i know you're back. you really believed you could get rid of me, remember, you're my friend till the end, you're mine, (y/n).
