you were frozen, but calmed down before going back to sleep, even knowing he might be watching you right now. did you really have any choices? no. you needed sleep. so, you just let yourself sleep.

when morning arrived, you weren't sure on what you were going to do. heck, maybe he wasn't even here and this was old. perhaps. keeping positivity really helped. until it doesn't. ignoring problems seem wrong, but, you didn't care. nothing happened, right?

"morning, (y/n), danny smiled. "breakfast is ready. janie is busy which is why i'm calling for you." "coming! you say, still in your pajamas. you go downstairs, hoping you could calm your nerves.

you sit by your brother, like usual. you didn't know anyone else here. the other children looked scared. which you understood. complete strangers living here? well, they would hopefully get used to this.

"smells good, you complimented. janie smiled, handing you food. but you only felt dread. mostly from the note you were given. who knows how he knew you were back, well, honestly, you only knew one thing.

he was watching you. hell, maybe even following you.

you needed to tell danny, he was your brother. could you even lie? no. you never lied in your life to danny. you finished breakfast. charles might be lurking in the corner somewhere. or, show up when you're vulnerable.

who knows?

you knew him well enough though, so you knew most of his tactics. "(y/n), is everything okay? danny asked. you sighed, pulling him aside. "charles is back." his eyes widen in surprise. "back? you have evidence?"

you nodded, going upstairs and him following you. you go in your room, handing him the note. you watch him skim through the note quick. why read the note when you had no time? well, you did have plenty of time.

"oh my god, danny muttered."(y/n), you need to leave-" "danny, you interrupt. "this may just be some warning. besides, he didn't show up anywhere. perhaps, this is old. i just.. don't like lying to you."

danny nodded. "but we should be careful. he knows you're back, obviously. so be more curious." "yes sir, you smile, he smiles back. you would keep your promise. you've learned your lesson.

maybe your naivety blinds you sometimes. but, you couldn't control being so oblivious. you despised your obliviousness, your biggest weakness. you push your selfish thoughts aside. this really didn't revolve around you.

no. charles might hurt other people. people who didn't deserve this. "come on, we should continue on with your lives, danny suggested. "for me, i have something to deliver." you look over, he wrote a letter to celia, his girlfriend.

you nodded, watching him go out of your room. however, you couldn't shake off the feeling of being watched, like someone was in your room. you should trust your gut, but clearly nobody was here with you.

you sigh, sitting on your bed. unexpectedly, someone grabbed your ankle, making you yelp, you stand up, hearing the familiar chuckle you knew. charles comes from under your bed, his hair even curlier then you remember.

you step back. "no! no!" he smiled. "yes. i've returned. i knew you would, eventually." you open your door, running out. hoping he wasn't behind you. when you look back, you could only see your open window.

you closed your window.

you quickly go back in, checking everywhere. he went through the window. he would be back. when? you didn't know. you were unsure on informing danny about your little chit chat with charles.

however, lying didn't seem like the best option, either. especially since he would find out anyway. you sigh, doing the right thing was the best option. "(y/n), you look worried, danny piped in.

you jump. "jesus, danny, you scared me. but yeah, i'm worried." "about what? danny asked. "charles visited me, danny, you admit, in a whispery voice. he frowned."i know. he sent me something too."

"how come you didn't say anything? you ask, annoyance in your voice, plus concern. "i'm sorry, but it's graphic, danny sighed. "hence why i kept it to myself." you simply hug him, you couldn't be upset when he had your best interest in mind.

he hugs back. you didn't say much. normally, you would've cried or something. but you had no tears anymore. not for charles at least. you've become good at masking your emotions. you could feel emotions, maybe too much, but you pretended like you didn't, so you didn't show emotion.

"hey, you okay? danny asked. your expression was neutral, so how could he even see you weren't fine? "no, you confess. "but i should try to be." he hugs you, you hug back, smiling. you only showed emotion, around danny or your family. people you knew you could trust.

you pull back, closing your window, locking it."there, he shouldn't be able to go back in." danny nodded. danny leaves. you close your door, sitting at your desk. something you didn't remember having last summer.

you hoped you'd see janie around, maybe spend some personal time with her. then you heard some noises coming from the closet. you groaned. he probably snuck in. you just knew it. you opened your door, there you saw charles.

"why do you keep coming back? you scoff, before he swiftly pins you against the wall, seems like he loved doing that. charles whispered in your ear, "remember, you're mine. of course i'll keep coming back."

you didn't react. sure, you did get scared, but only inside. you didn't show your fear. you knew he enjoyed seeing fear on people, especially you. you shove him back."i don't belong to anyone, you asshole. i'm not some property you could claim as your own."

his grip on his knife proved he was becoming frustrated. why did he even bring his knife? "i don't want to hurt you, (y/n), charles said. something in his voice changed, his tone became more intimidating.

you were unphased. "then don't. easy as that." "i do love you, he smiles creepily. "i know you love me. just accept it." you were considering giving in for only a second.

"in your dreams, moron."
