The next day passed by in a blur. Chloe was too tired to argue with Marcus or to fight the situation she was in. Her mind kept returning to the scarred creature by the fire and the shock on Luci's face when he had realized she had seen him like that. She had trouble connecting both versions of him to be two sides of the same person.

But as the day came to a close, and she found herself back on her bed, staring at the ceiling above her, the images of the man she had come to know took over and the shock at her discovery of his true nature slowly faded. And was that even his true nature? Wasn't it just an appearance?

The more she thought about it, the more she regretted her reaction. She had run away, just like he had predicted she would. She had done the exact same thing that he had expressed he feared. No wonder he was having issues believing he deserved to be loved.

By the time Chloe fell into a restless sleep, her decision to find him and set him free was unwavering. For even if he had this monstrous side, she believed his caring, loving side to be who he truly was, and in comparison, while being entirely human, Marcus clearly had a monstrous side, too. It simply wasn't visible from the outside.

So after breakfast the next day, Chloe asked if she was allowed to spend time in the royal library. It was filled with books of all colors and sizes, bound in leather and linen and paper, an endless collection of stories.

But she had one particular story in mind, an old tale her father had sometimes told her as a child. Her subconscious was onto something, she just couldn't get a hold of it yet. It was an inkling that she had to confirm. If she went to see Luci again and apologize for running away, she wanted to be certain of his true name.

She flipped through the vast collection of fairy tale books the library had to offer until she found the one story she was looking for and read:

The Lightbringer

In the beginning, there was a man who named himself God. He was the first being in the universe, and therefore, he was very lonely. So he set out to create a world he could look upon and populated it with plants and animals and humans. It was a wonderful world, though there was something missing. There was no light, only darkness.

God couldn't see what he had created, yet he was too tired after all the work to invent light. It was easier to create an angel instead.

"Samael, my son. I made you so you can help me light the world I have created. So go and bring some light in there," God said.

"Father, I will gladly do as you please," Samael replied.

And so he spread his wings to fly and light the sun. He gave it a push so it would move along the sky. Light and warmth flooded from the new orb, yet God wasn't satisfied with his work.

"Samael, my son. The sun is only shining half of the time, and the other time it is still dark. Go and bring more light into the world," God said.

"Father, I will gladly do as you please," Samael replied.

And so he spread his wings to fly and light the moon. He gave it a push so it would move along the sky when the sun wasn't visible. Yet God wasn't satisfied with his work.

"Samael, my son. The moon is changing its form, and sometimes it's not even there. Go and bring more light into the world," God said.

"Father, I just wanted to bring some mystery and wonder into the world along with the moon. But I will do as you please," Samael replied.
