"Which love? What love are you referring to, Murad?" Osman, Mihrimah's brother, asked. His voice was laced with confusion and a hint of suspicion. "I love Mihri," Murad confessed, his voice barely above a whisper.
"Just wish! What on earth are you saying?" I interjected, my voice rising in disbelief and anger. "Mihrimah is your sister! How can you even utter such words?" The room fell into an uncomfortable silence, the tension palpable.
"Hümaşah ap-" Kosem Sultan began, her voice trembling slightly. But before she could finish her sentence, she was abruptly cut off.
Sultan Ahmed stepped forward, his stern gaze silencing the room. His interruption hung heavily in the air.
And then, silence. A silence so profound it was almost deafening.

"I want to speak with Hümaşah Sultan and Prince Orhan alone. The rest of you may leave," I commanded, my voice echoing in the grand hall.
Once the room had emptied, leaving only the three of us, I turned to Hümaşah. "Hümaşah, you know that Mihrimah is as dear to me as Murad. I would never wish ill upon her. What's the problem if Mihrimah marries Murad?" I asked her gently. She had been by my side during my most challenging times.
"Brother, you know that Mihrimah is most dear to us. Knowing everything, how can we allow her to marry Murad? Murad is the future sultan of this sultanate. How can he marry Mihrimah?" she replied, her words more of a question than a statement.
"He can, Hümaşah. If we desire it, it will happen," I responded calmly.
"Your Majesty, you are well aware of the ways of the harem. This has never happened before," she countered.
I turned my gaze to my brother Orhan. He seemed perplexed by our conversation. "Do you also disagree with this marriage?" I asked him.

I looked at my brother, for the first time in my life, I found myself opposing his decision. But this was about my daughter.
"Brother Ahmed, Hümaşah is right. This cannot happen," he said firmly. "Did your marriage not happen with Hümaşah Sultan? Was she not your cousin?" he questioned me.
"But brother, we both loved each other and marrying each other was our own decision. In this case, it's not the same. Maybe Murad loves Mihrimah, but my daughter is unaware of these feelings called love. How can I marry her off to him?" I replied, my voice filled with concern.

Seeing my brother and sister so tense, I felt a pang of uncertainty.
