It was another normal day. Some shit getting lesson from Ethan. We all stood around him as everyone started laughing. Watching fear in people's eyes for them made them feel good , it gave them pleasure. I didn't find it THAT attractive though , I had to do it because I couldn't say 'No' to Ethan. The Keane family helped us alot during our bad times and I was indeed grateful.
Ethan ordered the boy to slap him. That was our signal to know that something was about to happen. Either the boy is going to break 1/2 bones or he's gonna die incase he really slaps him. But as we knew, he got much scared and looked like would faint any time. That's when we heard some whimpers. It was weird because no one really had that courage to stand outside Ethan's torture cell. Ethan got up with an annoyed face as we all looked at his way. We knew that person had their last day alive. Ethan won't leave them easily!
It was more than 5 minutes and Ethan wasn't back. I was getting more tensed knowing what he might do to that poor person. No one had that ability to go out and check upon them , so I did it.
Going outside , I saw someone getting scolded by Ethan! Ethan's body blocked my way so I got close to them and saw...Bella?! She was sobbing! Did Ethan do anything bad to her? I quickly stood in her defence not thinking about Ethan's reaction.
"Ethan , please don't do something to her. She's naive." I told him the fact looking at the floor.
I could sense his anger building as he shouted on me,
"Go inside and do your work Chris! I don't pay your fees to fucking know about who's naive and who's not!"
There he was , making me realise how his father paid my fees. I had nothing to do as arguing with Ethan might push Bella into more trouble. I left the place not before assuring Bella with my eyes that nothing will happen to her. She blinked at me too.
Another 5 minutes went by as Ethan entered the cell. Everyone went silent as we knew it was time for the guy to get punished.
The punishments given by Ethan were too brutal usually, from telling guys to pee on eachother to making them walk naked to class, it could be anything. One time I remember he had beaten up a guy badly. The guy was told to do a task where he had to rub salt on his own cuts! One guy had to record having sex with his girlfriend. Ethan loved giving weird tasks to everyone and loved it more when all obeyed him!
To everyone's surprise, Ethan entered and declared,
"Make this guy say sorry to y'all. I'm leaving right now."
And he left. It was weird. He would usually go all devilish to his preys. Some guy who worked for Ethan bit the guy and he continuously apologized. That was it , done! I was still shocked with the fact that Ethan let that guy go this much easily. Whatever, I didn't had time for all this. The urge to meet her was killing me, I was craving for her , for Bella!
It wasn't tough to find her , she was in the library. My heart ached as I sat beside her silently. I had nothing to do but leave her to Ethan sometimes ago. I wasn't able to save her. I wasn't able to wipe her tears while she was scared of that beast. The need of money tied my hands by my side. Maybe that's what happens when you don't have a dad to stick by your side and have a sick mom whom you need to take care of.
"Had lunch?" She asked , in her angelic tone.
"Nah ,I didn't! The food this canteen sells tastes like medicine." It's not true. I need to save up a bit because mom will have to go through another operation soon and I can't let the Keane's pay again for it. This rich college has a really posh canteen, the amount of money one meal from this canteen costs , people can buy a whole day meal for 2 people with that money outside.
Only if I could share my thoughts with her. But no , I was introvert. No one could guess the pain I beared behind this happy smile.
She laughed a bit hearing to me. That gave me a little peace.
"I'm sorry if Ethan behaved inappropriately with you."
I told her and I meant it.
"He didn't behave inappropriately with me. Even he acted good. It's just , I'm a bit scared of everything. He isn't that bad, I've realised it!"
Bella declared with hopes in her eyes while her cheeks tinted. She...she was happy talking about him!
"Waittt , what's that blushing? You like him?!" I asked making it look normal as much as I could. I needed to know the truth!
