"slow down" Zoe said for the hundreth time as I was walking ahead of her
Doing the contrary of what she asked me to, I ran up to the cabin once my eyes were able to spot it.
I knocked forcefully at the door, searching visually inside the place.
"Kyle" I mumbled when I spotted him
"Oh girls" Misty exclaimed hapily as she rushed to me.
I was just staring at Kyle, wondering how is it that he was silent as a corpse, and numb as a teenager. I started panicking, what if Kyle's stitches were the only thing the witch healed about him.
I don't even know why I thought it could end up any other way, I don't know why I thought I would find Kyle as alive as he was that night before the accident.
And now, known side effects of false hope were taking over me.
I was diping back in everything I felt at that moment.
Feeling every shivers, hearing every cry.
I wanted to see Kyle, but I wanted to see my Kyle even more.
Yet my Kyle was still buried deep under the skin of the Kyle staring at my soul right now.
Misty jumped out off the bed on which she was laying with Kyle by her side, and ran to me, she grabbed my forearm and rushed me to the bed again.
At this point Zoe was at the door, I sent her a look before turning back to Misty totally straddling Kyle.
I focused on Kyle's face, but since his eyes didn't seem to be automatically driven to mine right now, I couldn't do anything but look away.
Was I jealous? Mad? Hurt? I don't know.
I felt Zoe's hand gently patting my back, she probably knew me better than I did, because she tried calming me down even if I had no legitimate reason to feel any particular emotion.
Misty unbottoned Kyle's shirt, before she drew it out of the way of his chest.
I looked back up at Kyle, knowing for a fact I wouldn't have appreciated that if it happened to me, and this time he was looking at me, with emptiness reigning in his eyes.
"How did you do that?" Zoe asked while I focused on trying to somehow get into Kyle's brain.
"It's the humic acid in the mud" Misty answered smilling widely as she turned her head to face both of us.
"Burns, scrapes, bug bites. I put Louisiana mud on anything" Misty continued firstly focusing on Zoe but then turning to me.
"This one's really deep" She talked posing her hands down on his collar bones to indicate the way to the scar on his neck.
I crouched down slowly, and touched the scar on his neck with my fingertips as Misty's palms slid down his whole chest to rest on his lower belly.
I felt so terrible, to know that his entire life, Kyle would have a scarred memory of his death on his body.
He slightly shivered at my touch, which kept me from going too emotional, and instead put a soft smile on my face.
"Is it my fault?" I asked looking back up at Misty but staying down next to Kyle.
"Oh no, I tried too, it's just the best we could do" Misty replied with a sweet tone.
I moved my fingers to feel the scar on his shoulder, it was deep too, but not as deep as the scar on his neck.
He shivered once more, looking at me more fervidly, and with more intensity this time, I smiled at him.
This time I did not wait for a smile in return, I simply hoped to let him know how true my smiles were when he was their cause.
"Kyle, it's Ava. Do you remember me?" I asked directly talking to him.
To be honest, I already knew he remembered me, which was weirdly flattering, but needed to see if he could talk and also be sure of what I believed.
After a second where we just stared at each other, Kyle's hand reached out to my head, his fingers caught a strand of my messy black hair, and he twisted it, like he was discovering the texture of my hair for the first time.
Lock after lock, I couldn't ask him to stop and I couldn't tear my eyes from his. Taking it from the sound that made, I concluded that Misty had moved aside.
I took his hand in mine and looked back up to Misty.
I had taken my decision, no matter how hard it would have been for me, Kyle would return to his normale life, far from problems, witches, far from me. But close to his mom, who loved him more than any mom I ever met loved her son.
"Misty we gotta take him home" I spoke regretting it instantly when I felt all the eyes posing on me like I had said something insane.
"His mother's a wreck, I saw her Zoe, she needs him and he could get his memories and abilities back" I argumented
Zoe posed a hand on my shoulder "What about you? How will you get your memory back if you're not stimulated by his presence?" Zoe told me
"This isn't about me" I looked back at Kyle "He desevres to have a life of his own" I spoke loud enough to be heard clearly.
"If it heals him I guess i-" "I healed him! Me. I...bathed him and...I fed him and nursed him to health" Misty said rapidly interrupting Zoe
"You did" Zoe answered with her comforting smile drawn on her lips. "And we owe you big time" Zoe added
"Well then you two stay...stay for dinner" Misty proposed getting her smile back.
She shifted to take one of Zoe and I's hand, I looked at Zoe, trying to make her understand staying was unfortunately out of the question.
"Another time, I promise" Zoe told her still heavliy smiling.
Misty smiled timidly, I could tell she was disapointed, yet she closed Kyle's shirt back and sat him up.
Once Kyle was up, he rushed to me, unwillingly putting me in a shit position since he would be falling on me.
Zoe's smile erased while she looked back at Misty, who her was out of my sight.
I kept on walking, sensing something wrong.
"No, no, no. He's not ready yet" Misty shouted coming up to us and pulling on Kyle's arm.
Immediatly he pushed a groan and we were torn appart once more.
"Hey! You're hurting him" I spoke to Misty as she ignored me
She placed both of her hands on each side of his face, blinding everything around him so that he could only see her face.
"We're connected. Kyle, when she abandonned you, I was there, you can't just replace me" Misty started telling him
I walked in closer to her, and put Kyle's arm on my shoulders again.
"Misty, you can't just say stuff like that?!" I started yelling unwillingly, I was truly angry, I didn't even try to undertsand Misty's motives, I just got mad.
Kyle shouted either and slapped Misty's hand off him. I stepped away lightly as we all turned silent when Kyle finally wasn't.
But Misty immediatly rushed back to take Kyle on her side;
"Let him go, let him go, he wants to go home okay?" Zoe said getting between Misty and I.
"I'll come back for you I promise" she added as Kyle and I were already walking away.
