Characters: Natasha Pittman and Carson Montanez

Natasha stepped on to the porch of a house she was all too familiar with. Her breath puffed out in clouds as she knocked on the door, gentle snowflakes falling from the sky. Carson had asked her to come over and she happily agreed. Carson Montanez. Mr. Popular and a local heartthrob. She was lucky enough to be able to call him her best friend. For a while now the two had been fooling around, sleeping together here and there, but it was all in good fun. No feelings, just fun. That's what they agreed upon. But lately she had been looking forward to their get togethers more and more. She often found herself thinking about him. His laugh when she cracked a stupid joke, the way he smelled fresh from the shower after a good workout, the sexy way his eyes glinted when he had her pinned underneath him. Natasha shook her head free of her swirling thoughts when she heard the door open and was greeted by the handsome man himself. He smiled at her and she just about melted on the spot.

"Hey Tasha." he said, stepping to the side to allow her to come in.

Grateful to finally get in from the cold, she stepped in and briefly basked in the warmth of the house before slipping off her coat and hanging it up next to the door.

"Is Anita home?" She asked as walked further into the small house.

"Nah, She's at work."

She felt herself get a little excited. They were alone? This meeting could take a very interesting turn. She turned to face him, a small smile on her face. Before she could open her mouth to reply he spoke up once more.

"We need to talk."

Her smile faltered slightly as she caught sight of his serious expression. Natasha forced a small laugh out, placing her hands on her hips.

"Wow, if I didn't know any better, I'd say you were breaking up with me."

Carson averted his gaze for a few seconds before looking back at her and sighing. She could feel her heart drop into her stomach and her hands dropped limply to her sides. Carson took a step towards her, an apologetic look in his eyes.

"Listen. I just think we should stop sleeping together. We can still hang out and stuff..."

He trailed off, his eyes leaving hers once more. Natasha felt her eyes start to burn as she wracked her brain for possible explanations as to why he would do this.

"Why? I thought we were having fun?"

Carson winced at the sad tone her voice had taken and looked back at her. He sighed once more and decided to be completely honest with her.

"There's this girl I've gotten to know and I really like her..."

Natasha tuned out the rest of his words as her whole world began to come crashing down. He found someone else? Sure they weren't dating or anything but she had hoped, deep in her heart, that maybe just maybe he'd like her back. She was brought out of her spiral when she felt Carson's hand on her cheek. He gently wiped away the tear that slipped down her cheek. When had she started crying? She pushed his hand away, cheeks burning in embarrassment and pushed past him to the door.

"I have to go."

Carson opened his mouth to say something but decided against it and let her go. Natasha rushed out of the house slipping her coat back on as she hurriedly walked down the sidewalk in the snow. As soon Carson's house was out of view, she sat down on a nearby bench and looked down at her hands. She focused on the pattern on her gloves, trying to distract her mind from what just happened.

Drip.

A droplet fell onto her palm and darkened the fabric of her glove as it soaked in. Natasha blinked. What?

Drip.

Another droplet. Slowly she reached up to her face and wiped her cheek. Ah. She was crying again.

There's this girl...I really like her...

Those words began echoing in her mind as the reality of the situation finally hit her.

Carson was in love with someone.

And that someone was not her.
