Catastrophic

Chapter 1

I never liked this world. I'll explain. There are... - were - four races. See, there were humans, bunnies, cats, and foxes. Now, I'm not saying races as in Asian, African, etc. I'm saying that they were hybrids. Bunnies were basically humans with bunny ears and a tail. Foxes were basically humans with fox ears and tail, and cats were humans with a cat tail and ears. Humans were just... humans.

One day, the humans got too cocky about themselves, and they attacked. They claimed it was due to their food shortage, however, they had more food than the other three races combined. Unfortunately, the human and cat races were wiped out in a bloody war between the two. Rumor has it that a few cats made it out alive, but we can't prove these rumors correct, nor incorrect.

What we do know is that while the humans were wiped out, the foxes attacked the bunnies. The bunnies and foxes planned a truce dinner, but the foxes attacked the bunnies during, and they've been at war ever since. The war has been put aside a few times due to too many injuries on one side, leaving there to be no opponents for the other race.

Sometimes, besides calling the nations by their actual names, (Krolik = bunnies, Siyala = foxes, and so on) people just call nations 'the _____ nation'.

My name is Jade, and since I was old enough to talk, I've been training to use a sword. I can bench-press 500 lbs. now, though it doesn't look like it. I actually look quite frail, but anyway that's besides my point. I've been training basically my entire life for this moment. I'm now 18 years old and I am finally going out on the front line.

Anyway, I have my whole life ahead of me. My sword in hand, sharp and ready. I'm the one who will end this battle. Once and for a- (Whoops. Tripped on a hole in the ground.) Once and for all! Leaving the village is really scary since I'm new to this whole fighting thing, but I sure hope it's not as dangerous as I was told.

Oh great. I was just attacked by a wolf sent to assassinate me. Fun. Anyway, I'm making my way to the war site. I'm nervous to be fighting close-up, and so were my parents, so I have an extra layer of armor to protect myself. It's my first day in the 'real world' as the adults put it, so I guess I need extra protection.

Anyway, I've made it to the war site. I need to be on guard- I walk out here and the first thing I see here is a fox that is trying to kill me? Fun. I planned on getting out of this place as soon as possible. I'll just do my required eight hours of fighting today, and get it over with. They look so... terrifying. Also, they're tall! I'm tall for a bunny (6'0"), and these foxes are looking 7'0"... on average. Creepy. Is what I thought. In the present time, I guess I'm used to it.

I started talking with my friends, Laila and Ji-yun. Ji-Yun told me that he had a crush on me since we were 14. He still hasn't grown out of it.

Wait, I should be cautious because of the snipers. Shouldn't- Ouch! I dropped my sword as I looked down to my left arm. Ugh... I suddenly feel... tired. A poison arrow? I... need to... rip it out before... before... No! Don't think about that. As I ripped the arrow out of my arm, I passed out.

I woke up in a... basement? Oh gosh... was I kidnapped? Or... is this hell? As I thought that, I felt a stabbing pain in my left arm. I looked down at it and there was a bandage. I sighed as I faced the ceiling. Suddenly, I heard footsteps coming from the staircase.

I gasped and tried to scoot the chair away as I saw a fox tail from the body of the (I later found to be man) that was coming downstairs. He got downstairs and I screamed bloody murder as he slowly walked over to me. I tried scooting the chair backwards faster, but it fell back.
