at lunch he saw her walk out of the cafeteria.

grabbing his sack lunch, he pursued her.

she walked outside and sat with her back against the school.

she held her legs close as if they were a sheild from the cruel world around her.

she lowered her head down so it sat between her knees like the sun between two mountains.

he watched her from behind a tree--which he admittedly thought was lame.

so he walked over to her and sat beside her.

he mimicked her position.

then both lifted their heads at the same time.

puzzlement was plastered upon their faces.

and for the first time, she cracked a small smile.

"i'm a loser," he said,

"and i think i'm in love with you."
