Violet was wrong. Gloria is dead.
She died from cardiac arrest. What I said has killed her.
I was lying down on my bed staring at the ceiling.
I was staring at the ceiling for several hours now.
I haven't stopped crying ever since we found out that Gloria died.
Violet cried too but she only cried for a few hours.
I heard the door open and then close.
I felt the mattress dip next to me.
"I'll be here for you. Always." Violet said.
I felt her wrap her arm around me. I rolled over and I was crying in Violet's chest. I wrapped my arm around Violet.
I tried to sleep but I couldn't. I wouldn't stop crying.
Even though I ran out of tears several hours ago I still cried.
I knew that I kept Violet up the entire night too but she didn't complain.
A few hours after the sun rose I finally stopped crying and I fell asleep.
